Jason Todd's Red Hood Noob cosplayer attempt

Greetings Fellow Earth Dwellers . i am a beginner when it comes to doing amazing cosplay like the other users here , but i have been researching for weeks now a good costume to practice some armor/helmet building since i have always had a thing for making armor, but very limited access to tools and resources to pursue this. i came to the conclusion of trying out the Red Hood because i thought it would be simple enough because most of the custom work has to be done on the helmet and it seems like a small project to get me started on helmet making and from there move up into bigger things, if anyone has any tips or ideas for materials i should use to make a solid full helmet i would greatly appreciated

I won't be easy I am work on a Red Hood costume myself. Maybe I'll see you at a comic con one day and we can compare.

i noticed after looking closely at pictures that it might be harder than i thought since its very sleek and round looking helmet to get that perfection seems like it might be tricky, so i might make another helmet for practice and then use the Red Hood one for the first full project since i already own most of the things i need for the costume all i need to do is make the helmet.

what did you do to it for durability?

step one make a get sheets of plaster cloth and a apply to your face. step 2 do the do the same with the top of your head. 3 fuse the two pieces more sheets of plaster cloth. 4 build up levels of paper mess and scalp to shape you need. 5 mount silver sun glasses near the eyes. 6 sand. 7 apply liquid plaster to the helmet. 8 sand again. 9 repeat 7 and 8 until you are happy. 10 paint the inside of the helmet with latex paint, this will seal the helmet from heat and swent from your head. 11 you need to figure out how you want the back of the helmet to open. My way is my own secret. or make you helmet bigger then you own head.
This is what has always bugged me, when you see someone helmet on youtube. The way DC draws compare to the way the human head really is shape, is not the same. So you will need to find you own middle ground that you are happy with.
12 Finally paint

which Red hood are you doing, Comic book, animated move, or other? My is an Arkham City style, I am combining a lot of Arkham City Robin into the look.

i was going for the Under The Red Hood version, "motorcycle fetish" but with a few minor changes, dont own a brown "leather" jacket but do have a black one that would be nice for it , and already have my old military boots, the holsters, and maybe adding some new ideas to the costume. i was even thinking of adding some batman like spikes on the gloves , they sell some online that are pretty nice but for people with skinnier forearms its to big so i just took the actual metal spikes piece out and im going to make a new gauntlet for it to be more adjustable, and for the helmet i was wondering if it would make my project harder to go for a power ranger type opening system by having latches and having it divide down the middle running down the ears but im afraid of it looking funky and wont be aligned while closed, but thats where trial and error comes in.
