JAMES DEAN died 58 yrs today

James Dean died at the intersection of hwys 41 & 46, 58 years ago today. If jimmy had taken an extra minute or two to check his oil or Mr. Turnipseed had waited a minute before getting into his truck, the crash would never have happened. Even if the films he appeared in seem a little dated, his acting isn't. Its hard to find a false moment in any one of his performances. We miss you Jimmy.

A week ago I visited the crash site and attached a GoPro camera to the dash and drove the last mile that Jimmy and his passenger/mechanic Rolf drove at the same time of day, shortly before 6pm. The sun was clearly in Jimmy's eyes.

Sadly Alec Guiness took one look at the car and said he would be dead within the week and he was, how weird is that

Well to be fair it was pretty well known that Dean liked to drive fast. He may not have died if not for this accident but i have no doubt there would have been a bad crash at some point.

ive past that intersection lots of times in my truck, its still barren out there. the mystery is what happened to his porsche. myth is it dissapeared after a bunch of bad-luck incidents with the wreckage.

Dean did have penchant for speed, but in all fairness Mr. Turnipseed did cut him off....cause Dean had the right of way..
