Jack Sparrow Scarf experiment

OK, I got a couple extra scarfs from Mangofever because I wanted a couple different degrees of weathering to choose from. I wanted one really washed out like when he is found in Davy Jones' Locker in the third movie. But I have found that when you use bleach the scarf actually gets progressively more orange, not pink. So after 3 bleach baths and a soak in RIT color remover, I have something kind of creamy yellow off-white. Now I will re-dye it until it gets that nice rustic shade of pinkish-brown. So here's what it looks like now. Thought you'd enjoy the photo...

Could be that the bleaching is natural?
I left one folded on the windowsill for a couple of days, and the sun bleached it out! granted, not this much, but certainly pinkish.

Maybe pre-tie (as the actual scarves were over the wig), place on a former to hold the shape (polystyrene head / wig stand), and place in the window, or out in full sun, if you've got it!

How about UV / sunlamp?
