Well, the authenticity of many Star Wars props from the Disney movies and shows that have been offered at auction (and privately) have been debated. Disney is fierce on protecting their assets falling into the hands of collectors and they have been doing a good job of storing what is made. With the ease of making replica props or a crew member making an extra one one has to be very careful.

While I can't say whether this piece is real or not, I find it alarming that you spend 62500 on a piece that you haven't researched (enough) yourself. I'd advice you to do more research prior to bidding next time.

Thank you for the reply. I did my best to research it myself but figured asking you guys would be a good second step as well as you are likely more versed in verification than I could be. Heritage I assume would do its best to make sure of its authenticity as well. If found to be not authentic I’m sure heritage would make it right which is also why I am asking if anyone of the experts here have an opinion one way or the other

Unfortunately, Heritage Auctions isn't infallible when it comes to authenticating props. There's a thread here about a supposed hero phaser from TOS that fetched big bucks, but its provenance is very shaky and the details of the prop itself have convinced people far more knowledgeable than me that it's a fake.

That doesn't mean anything about your purchase specifically, could very well be genuine, but HA and other auction houses aren't perfect.

I’d check the terms and conditions of the sale etc as there’s never always a guarantee that HA will “make it right”.

I saw that which is what put a kernel of doubt in my mind and brought me here. Have there been other questionable sales from heritage of a similar ilk?
