is Scar a copycat version of Chiggy Von Richtofen

I'd say there's a definite similarity, though likely due to the fact that they're both based on the Red Baron (explicitly in the case of SAaB.)
 
Scar is scarier, everytime he resurrects, he's a little more insane. You punch Chiggy out and he's gone for good.
 
I just so happened to watch "Scar" for the first time this week! (I just got all four seasons of BSG and am watching it non stop).

Personally I thought the SAAB episode was a little better in the "this guy killed all our buddies" department, and had a "happier" climax.

The BSG episode was okay... maybe a little too much on the "competition" between Starbuck and Kat. The point was driven home at the end though, that this is war, not a football game.


As for who was "scarier"... I think this was played up a bit better in the SAAB episode. Both episodes have their merits. :thumbsup

Actually, would Scar (or other cylon raider ships/a.i.s) resurrect or was that just for "skinjobs" in BSG? Maybe they covered that and I'm just forgetting that detail. At least, if Scar did resurrect, he wouldn't have his scar anymore, right?

I liked both stories a lot regardless. I've always been a big SAAB fan.

The SAAB episode was cool to me because it gave Col. McQueen a really good episode and let him suit up once more as an "Angry Angel" to take on Chiggy Von Rictofen.

All Cylons resurrect per Sharon's conversation with Starbuck during the Scar episode. She points out that it takes time for Starbuck to train new nuggets to replace her pilots, but with the Cylons, death 'becomes a learning experience' because they resurrect.

Ah, cool, thanks for the clarification. It's been a while since I watched that... Probably time for me to break out the DVDs and watch the series again.
 
both would be pretty scary advisories, since they were such effective killers. However Chiggy's kill rate was huge and he was almost indestructible. The space battle between Mcqueen and Chiggy was wicked, way better than the Scar battle. So my verdict:
both very scary (Scar looked cooler)
SAaB made a cooler climax episode/

Of course! I just watched the episode about a week ago so it's still pretty fresh in my mind. :)
 
Also, if I remember correctly, Scar has a soaring hatred for Viper pilots. Especially starbuck because she more than likely has killed him several times. Each death it learns from it's mistakes, each death, each painful resurrection the ever more torturous reminder of how much it hates the vipers.

I haven't seen the episode in a while but wasn't this after they destroyed the resurrection ship? So the Cylons were a tad bit more careful when they were hunting, especially Scar.
 
Well, I don't know about S:AAB, I know that "Scar" was one of the better episodes of Battlestar Galactica and is held in high regards by some of the fans. It's actually NOT an action episode and it is not about "competition" as many people believe. It's about facing your own inner demons (to which you win a little bit day by day) and discovering you have something to live for in a very dire situation where you have nothing to lose.
 
Didn't Chiggy hover around a pilot in an escape pod, teasing and it for a bit before killing the person? Scar would just kill you, Chiggy ****ed with your head before killing you.
