Hi all Im a newbee and Im starting an Ironman pep
Ive been looking around with other peoples work and collected lots of pep files
ive noticed, Bondo work on a pep files is nice, but it dosnt get as smooth as I like it to be. I wanted it to be super smooth and no dips and holes or bumps nor any uneven surfaces and Im willing to put the time to sand the crap out of my pep files after bondo or Rondo but i wonder if it ever will be super smooth. I was thinking of doing a rough smoothing with a electric sander with 60 grid then hand sand with 100 then 200 then 400 then 600 and maybe ever wet sand after that. dose any one have an answer whether thats is something i should do or is there any other ideas that would give me a super smooth surface

thanks all
Keivan

yes u can ruff it down with an electric, then use a 180 grit by hand, hit it with some filler primer to see any areas that need touch ups, fix them with some spot filler, re prime, sand with a 250 by hand, repeat untill you are happy with the surface then give her a wet sand with 600 grit, you can check out my thread if ya want smooth ironman parts it is what i strive for

Thanks a lot Surreal Studios that really helps and your work is absolutely amazing. do you recommended any specific spot filler to correct the dips after the bondo and sand has been done? and where I can get it?

did you apply bondo on top of you pep files or slush cast from inside out?

also, if you are worried about the texture of the finished product you will be applying sealers to the painted piece when you are finished painting the model. that will make it smooth to the touch.

I have found that after fiberglassing / bondo / Sanding. I use drywall filler to fillin all the small irregularities left behind. Finaly i sand everything smoothe with finer and finer sandpaper. Paint More sanding. Final paint and clear coat.

bondo brand spot filler should be just fine, that and a good filler primer, i use filler on the outside of the pep yes
