Iron Man MkIII suit animatronics

Hi Honus, excuse me while I pick up my jaw ;)

Having been through this thread 3 timed front to back, back to front and front to back again I find myself almost crying your work is amazing the only thing you seem to have left out is how you did the sensors on the Boots, the video of them working is beyond cool!

Any chance you can drop a quick pic and explain about how the electronics in the boots were done?

I can do better than that! Here's the full tutorial- Animatronic Iron Man Mk III suit

Enjoy!

YES.... ERRRRRGGH! Finally, I can complete my Mark III to my satisfaction! Thanks again for the tutorial Honus. I really appreciate it.

Thought it might be helpful to post the complete wiring schematics.

Here's the helmet-

Boots-

Left side (controls helmet, hip pods and back flaps)-

Right side (controls forearm missile and shoulder rockets)-

Can I use a reed switch to trigger my servo/lights? I'm currently working on an iron patriot build and I'm trying to have a rig where the forearm rotates on a bearing ring around the elbow/higher forearm part. The idea is that I would rotate my arm to bring the reed switch close to a stationary magnet and it would trigger the servo to pop up revealing the cannon in the gauntlet

Yep you can do that for sure- that's an awesome idea too!

For all the people trying to add animatronics/electronics to their costumes I created an animatronics forum here-

DIY Animatronics forum

After answering countless emails about animatronics/electronics I realized there really needed to be a place for us costumers and prop builders to go to figure this stuff out. There's just too much information scattered across the web that it can be a real pain researching solutions- it needed a home of its own where people can get help with mechanics, electronics, code and parts suppliers. It became really difficult keeping up with all of the questions spread across multiple forums- so much that it needed a forum of its own.

It's in its infancy now but I'm steadily adding information. I hope you all join up and we can share our creative solutions to making Iron Man suits even more awesome!

Well I'm certainly no electronics expert and I'm even worse at writing code- LOL! My biggest strength is probably mechanics. But I figure if I can learn to do this stuff then so can other people. Also not everyone is going to do everything the same way and that's really great. What works for me may or may not work for someone else and they may have a better solution after looking at what I've done. The end result is that when we share our work we all learn different techniques from each other and we all benefit from that shared knowledge. In the end this is what matters most to me.

Any luck now? I've tried using multiple browsers and no problems for me. Just uploaded another tool review too. I should have the video series started up pretty soon too. :)

There is also a blog for it here- http://diyanimatronics.wordpress.com/

You got me. It works fine on every device I have whether I'm signed in or not. Chrome, Firefox and Safari all work just fine on my laptop as well as the PCs at my work. iPhone works fine too. Maybe try a different browser?
