Here is the first cast from the molds, painted and assembled. The eyes are temporary and are pieces of the spraycan top that I hot glued in place. When I get a chance, I'll replace them with metallic gold lenses. Feel free to send me an email if you have any questions, and thanks again for all the praise and support!

Here are the latest pics. The mask gets held on with magnets, two inside the mask, and two mounted on the helmet by the temples (the round indentations are the same size as normal ceramic magnets).
The back panel is also removable to get the helmet on and off. It is held in place with magnets as well.
As far as the eyes lighting up...man I really haven't thought about it.
I just have some more sanding and fine tuning, and I should be able to start the mold next week.
Hopefully I look less like Freddy Mercury than the sideshow bust :lol
These are the latest pics of the helmet cast in fiberglass and coated with primer. The last pic is the helmet in a plastic bag with a clay sculpt of the faceplate directly on the helmet.
The cast still needs to be cleaned up a bit before it's ready for silicone, but the whole project is moving along nicely...

I just started this a couple of days ago, so it's still pretty rough. I have to admit that I've never really read any Iron Man comics, but I love some of the armor designs I've seen over the past few years. This one is based on the 1:2 Sideshow bust (pictured w/ mine). I plan to make it fiberglass, wearable, and have a removable face mask.
Thanks for looking!
