I'm not a fan of Final Fantasy, but still . . .

That is VERY cool looking. Right up your alley.

So what is it supposed to do in the game?

I don't know!

The last time I played Final Fantasy, it looked like this:

Looks like it's a potion vial made by the shinra company in final fantasy vii. I dont have any video game props, but I may have to pick this up. not a priority, since it's limited to 77,777 pieces.

[edit, 5 minutes later]: failed to resist and bought it. for almost a hundred bucks after shipping, this thing better not be test tube sized... o_O

Not very in-touch with Final Fantasy anymore, but that looks like the Shinra logo to me, too. Although, I don't remember it being in FFVII.

Does look very cool, though.

For $78 that better be a damn tasty energy drink!

You never see a physical potion in FF7 so this is just their interpretation of it.

Actually, comparing up those pictures, the vial is not as small as I thought, it's actually quite big (look at the image of the guy holding the box, then the image above and to the right with the vial in front of the box).

All the "potion" energy drinks that have been released have been horribly overpriced. The cost which has been even further bloated by the import shipping charges. You'd think importers were paying for each can to be individually packaged and shipped from overseas...

I'm more keen on the exclusve artbook it included in this release. I'm hoping it includes all the updated FFVII portait artwork they had on display at the recent anniversary celebration. From J-list's pics it at least contains the updated portrait of Yuffie.

I know they released a FFXII set of potions that were more like boxed novelties (albeit moderately expensive) but it seems like this one is packaged to actually be a collectible. I dont think the price is THAT bad, considering you get an art book with it, which typically cost about $50 bucks each (hopefully, the thing wont be all screenshots of the 1997 game).

were there any other "high end" potion collectibles released?

There are actually two more releases of the potion energy drink product for the FFVII Crisis Core release/FFVII anniversary. They just come in limited cans(like soda) with different character artwork on them. One set is just the cans and another set is cans(w/ different art) plus a trading arts figure(from FFVII, FFVIIAC, and FFVIICC... maybe the Vincent is from FFVIIDOC can't tell).

I would consider these less higher end than the FFXII stuff since they came in nicer (but still overpriced bottles).

NCSX has pics and prices of those on the Sept 7th update.

i got mine in. its a LOT bigger than I thought it would be. The sculpt of the top "lid" (both can be taken off to gain access to the energy drink inside [no, i didn't taste it]) looks remarkably good for plastic. The book was pretty nice... probably a good purchase for the guys who like to collect artbooks (as well as those who can read japanese... there's a lot of text in it), and helps justify the high price for the collectible. it has pics of the updated character models, but not as big as i hoped they'd be.

it was hard to get good pics because the plastic is so shiny, but I did my best.

Got mine too -- I think the bottle will serve as good design inspiration (if it doesn't get mis-identified as a techn-***** every time I show it to someone.) The bottom is also removable.

haha... my friend said it looked like a ***** too!

there's a link on the first page where you can pick one up. you can probably check out other random online anime stores. also evilbay =P
