Hey all,

I've been getting some questions lately, and here's a blanket response:
My LOTR map is free, and for everyone.
If I send you a copy of the large printable TIFF, please give it to anyone who asks. I demand digital recasting in this case. Nobody needs my permission, I don't even care if it shows up on the wall of my local comic book store for sale.

Truly I don't.

I made it for myself. Had a good time. Took up many a plane flight placing and drawing those little mountains.

It's for all to enjoy.

(I did ask for one if anyone had it printed up, and to date only one person has done so...)

I'd just like to see your map on-line, a lower-res version only intended to be viewed on a monitor. Is there one somewhere? Could you post one here, perhaps?

Adam,

Thanks again for you generosity in making this map available to everyone. My daughter is about a third of the way through "The Return of the King" and is able to follow the story by the place-names on the map. A large jpg file as available at http://www.hooverae.com/mastermiddleearth.jpg (I hope that you don't mind me posting this, Fred).

Here's a lo-res version of the map:

I'd love the tiff file... My g/f saw the map we just got and her response was "wow it's great looking...I wish it was a little larger though" As it is I may need to do a custom frame...women... :lol

Cheers,
Jeff

Coolest freebie ever.

Since Adam has ordered this to be as freely distributed as possible, can someone set up a dowload for the TIFF file?

I'm sure the tiff will look better than the jpeg.

If anyone has it, shoot me a PM, I'll gladly pay postage to have it mailed on a CD.

To anyone that has the file may I suggest you zip it up (this will prevent the web browser from trying to display it) and then upload the zipped file to...

http://www.rapidshare.de/

And then post the download link...

It's free for both upload and download and it will save a ton of bandwidth, hassle from multiple uploads and rejected emails due to size...

Ditto.

And thanks for the incredible freebie Adam. :thumbsup

I was going to suggest the same thing. If you don't like Rapidshare then there are loads of other file hosting sites.
The downsides of these sites are ads (sometimes adult), a waiting period of about a minute or so, and that the file gets deleted after a while of no downloads.
An alternative to zipping up a TIFF file might be to use PNG format instead, which has loss-less compression built-in -- might be smaller, might not.

I would love to have the TIFF, but I can not receive it to any of my email accounts. The file is just too big for them.

I'd like a copy as well. What is the size of the TIFF? My Gmail inbox should be big enough, I think... If it is, my main e-mail is alex.borton@gmail.com.

If anyone does get the file up on rapidshare, could you make sure you throw the link up in here? I tried to get it in the other thread where it was hosted a couple times, but I guess they didn't work any more or something...

The reason I suggested zipping it was because the browser and even some email clients will try and display an image file when it downloads, this file is so large it crashes many computers as we saw when Adam first released the large JPG that was crashing systems when people tried to download it... I had uploaded the original large JPG to rapidshare and people where still having issues with the browser trying to display it...

PNG is a alternative to reduce file size but TIFF is better if you plan to get it printed as it's generally a prefered format... No reason to convert it from TIFF to PNG and back to TIFF...
