How to attach chest straps?

Hey hunters,

I'm looking for some advice about how people have attached the straps for their chest armour?

I'm doing P1 'half chest' style armour, and I have the leather to build the chest and right shoulder strap, but I'm at a loss as to how to connect it, but still being able to put it on (if I just glue it in place, the armour won't fit over my shoulders, right? Unless I'm overlooking something?)

I was thinking perhaps Velcro might be the way to go; but I'm concerned that won't be strong enough, and also as I'm using a Lycra skin suit, I'd worry that the Velcro will stick to the skin and knacker the paint job.

If people can let me know what they did, that'd be excellent.

Cheers.

I could also use a slim buckell. Something u could buckell under the armor so it'll be out of sight and wont be too bulky.

I used Velcro, one piece on the armour, the other piece on the leather strap. This is inside the armour so doesn't show and only the leather strap touches the skin suit, not the velcro

Perfect, thanks Troggs. That's what I was thinking, but I just wanted to make sure that it was a method that other people had tried and managed to get working before I started :D

Cheers.

I've just seen your other post and didn't realise your armour was foam. if you use velcro on foam it will pull and rip the foam I'm afraid. You need to find a way to strengthen the foam at the point where the velcro attaches - some folk say a few coats of diluted PVA will do the trick, you could maybe line the inside of the foam with fabric, glue the velcro to the fabric, then just be careful when getting in and out of the armour.
