How do you move frozen nuts? (smartgun related)

Okay, I have my AR125 hangers for my smartgun conversion, but I have a stoopid problem :rolleyes

The nut holding the footpegs on are well and truly frozen. Can't get any leeway to cut it, due to the flanged base of the nut (arrowed). Anyone got any brilliant automotive tips to shift these buggers?

Can't you just soak it in some WD40 or something overnight? Might free it up.

Could you take a dremmel cutting wheel to the top disk of the bolt and make it into a flat head screw?

Heat, lubrication (WD40 or liquid wrench) and torque. A pipe that you can put a ratchet wrench in makes a great breaker bar.

get a torque wrench on it, or if you know someone that runs a car garage, im sure they could remove it in seconds

I tried that already. Problem is, I don't have a vice.Or a blowtorch :wacko

You can try Liquid Wrench, let it soak for a few, and whack the nut a few times with something hard, I usually use a socket extension or a hammer.

Sometimes it's enough to jar the corrosion loose so you can turn it with a socket or wrench.

Don't beat on it, by any stretch. Just some firm hits with something hard.

Oh those kids of nuts! I was going to suggest heated underwear.

Give a blowtorch a try, it might be that some paint or glue might have seeped to where the nut and the plate make contact.

Ahh I did it:lol

An eventual combination of torque wrench, brute force, anger and a junior hacksaw :)cool) got the job done.

Now I gotta cut off the bits I don't need & Adios!
