Horror prop show-off

'Tis the season! :)

Halloween always brings back fond memories of rubber Don Post masks, vinyl Ben Cooper costumes and cardboard Beistle Halloween window decorations. For whatever reason, the modern stuff seems to lack the charm of yester-year ...

I thought it might be fun if some of the horror fans on the board could show off their horror related items. I'd love to see what you got! Post anything ... authentic movie props ... masks ... life sized figures ... artwork - whatever! Show it off!

I'll set things off with one of the most disturbing films I ever saw as a child ... Regan McNeil / The Exorcist:

Way to start! I myself have been wrapped up in the the spirit of things for the past month or so and achieved one of my life-long goals recently: acquired a Kirk mask "purported" from screen lineage.

This guy by the name of Masketcase (dunno if anyone else has heard of him) was offering restored, blank Kirk masks that were duplicated from molds made of the original mask to make stunt masks in H2 on Etsy; needless to say I snatched one up. The transaction was a separate thing entirely but the mask is great; it's the closest I'm ever gonna get to a real one and it be durable. I also snatched up some yellow-brown camel fibre for the hair (what I thought the original mask's hair to be from) and vintage Big Mac coveralls on Ebay. I've yet to get the Vietnam-era combat boots but it is on my list.

It wasn't a long build but I managed to snap pics of it anyway.

I've since re-cut the eyes to be a bit larger to match the eyes from the "hero" mask in the movie and am beginning to reconsider painting and re-hairing it (the hairline anyway). From the accounts that I've heard, I always figured it was originally just spray-painted white and black but now that the face is chipping to bits, and doing further research, I guess it wasn't so and now I'm trying to figure a way to re-paint it with latex paint minus having to splurge on the tools to let me do it.

Next on my list to accomplish is the razor glove that Freddy has, made from copper, brass, and steel; all sitting in a heap waiting for me to chop up.:devil

Beautiful work on that Shape mask PoopaPapaPalps! I've never heard of Masketcase ... may have to do a bit of homework ...

Great to see you're still around Simmon! That piece looks too realistic!

Yeah ... still alive ... mostly lurking nowadays ... ;)

And *very* creepy Mr. Nagata! Love it!

Nobody else??? Come on, there's gotta be more collectors out there ...

OK since you asked.I was going to wait until I was finished to post pics. This is my life size Frankenstein (31) diorama I'm building.I'm sculpting the Frankenstein bust which will eventually be produced out of silicone. He will be standing by the door when I'm finished. The machines will light up and there is a working Jacobs Ladder. The items in the display aren't in their final positions. They are just placed there to get them out of my studio.I'm also putting in some props from Bride of Frankenstein.

That is INCREDIBLE Gab! The Universal classics are my absolute favorites! A working Jacob's Ladder??? Very cool! You've captured the scene perfectly. I cannot wait to see your Monster come to life!

Here's some pics of my own Ladder by Douglas Hilderbrandt:

Here's an image with the spark ... hard to capture with my phone:

Nobody else? There's got to be a few more of us still around on the board! :)
