Sigh...I saw the preview during SYTYCD and I had to just fast forward as I couldn't stand it. I loved Footloose, still do. But why must Hollywood do this to my favorite movies? Kevin Bacon is and always will be Wren McCormick in my book and I can't bear the thought of watching this. I really just want to cry :cryor vomit. Maybe both.... Anyone else out there feeling my pain?

Why? Because they can and they have no original ideas left.

Why doesn't hollywood start remaking bad movies and fix them?

It's easy to remake what you already own the rights to. You actually don't have to update much other than music and maybe conversation topics. The rest is basically always the same.

To be honest, I've never seen the original Footloose (nor Risky Business, Dirty Dancing, or any of the Brat Pack movies) - but that doesn't mean I can't fully sympathize. :)

What makes it so sickening is that *rarely* do re-makes stand up to the originals.

You can't recast a John Lithgow type because there is only one Lithgow, accept no substitutes.

awesometastic!

You should really just cut loose. Y'know, footloose. And go ahead and kick off your Sunday shoes.

Oh Hollywood. :rolleyes

BTW sometimes when I'm at a fast food drive through and someone is sitting in the passenger seat, while I have my debit card out, I sometimes have to give them the ol' "watch your mouth son".

Footloose is one of those movies that without the 80's there to back it up, will probably come off as one big BLAH. I saw in the preview the whole thing centers around the deaths of some kids who get killed coming home from a dance - so the town banns dancing. Uh-huh. Back when the original came out Michael Jackson had Moonwalked on Motown 25 only 2 years previous - then after that breakdancing gained popularity - so dancing was in full swing. Present day teens believe in nothing and really can't do anything - that doesn't require a remote control. We were all about to get nuked and we LOVED it.

Fecking WHAT??????!!!!!!!!!

Be so glad I don't live anywhere near Hollywood.... Else I'd be going all Falling Down on them. How DARE they 'remake' Footloose. The recent Clash Of The Titans epic fail was pretty much it for me, but this.... I am so not happy now.

I may watch this, just out of pure curiosity as to how much they have destroyed the original story line (and given Hollyweirds previous attempts will be a LOT), but I am now, and always will be, a dedicated fan of the original.

I was working at a movie theater just out of high school when "Footloose" came out. I have the original theater poster that the manager gave me, along with "Strange Brew", "Christine", "Flashdance" and the Amsel re-release poster for "Raiders". I always liked the "Footloose" song, and wonder if they'll re-do that or come up with some rap/autotune crap for the remake.

You are absolutely correct on this! It just doesn't work for this time and age at all.

Oh so sometimes Hollywood does attempt to remake a bad film. Bet the remake will suck too.
Ok, that actually made me laugh a little. I can't claim that Footloose is the greatest movie, it is 80's fun and cheese and I love it.

Michelle agrees with you wholeheartedly Kristen.
:D:D:D
that sucks... this is GLEE ruining more movies.
I couldn't agree more. That show is dreadful- tried sitting through the pilot and the acting was so awful I just couldn't handle it. And yes, I realize Footloose doesn't have amazing acting either but it WAS the 80's and that was ok!
