History Channel Chasing Mummies - Staged?

Has anyone else watched this show and seen all the telltale signs of actors and staging? Man, for a history channel show, its a big letdown. People on Yahoo have even found personal pages of some of the actors confirming they are actors, not archeologists, and the camerawork really gives away that it is staged, with shots from multiple angles where you dont see another camera in the background, and just horrible acting all around.

Man, for a history channel show, its a big letdown.

With all the "search for monster X" shows, "Ice Road Truckers," "Life After People," etc., my opinion of them has dropped greatly in the last few years. Every so often they'll have a decent documentary or "Band of Brothers" marathon, but I watch it a lot less than I used to.

well the worst thing is the opening to the show is the "cameramen" explaining how its a documentary following Zahi Hawass around... but its so obviously faked and planned out, half the people are actors.

Trailer Park Boys is a better documentary. :cool:thumbsup:thumbsup

I have to agree that the quality of the shows on the History Channel aren't as good as they used to be. Ice Road Truckers? What's historic about that? Just the other day I found out one of the Truckers is a local.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the painfully obvious fakery. :rolleyes

I couldn't even get through the first 10 minutes before I had to change it....crap.

.

no this is totally different, its not just staged, its scripted, acted, edited, and scored, its like a damn sitcom.

it's terrbile. and Zahi Hawass is kind of a jerk... or he's "acting" like a jerk. :lol
i watched some of it today and caught a few minutes of it one other time... what a piece of JUNK!!!!:sick:thumbsdown:thumbsdown

im just surprised they would all go along with such a thing, and to play it off as a real documentary when its so clearly not...

You check the history channel forum and there are complaints left and right about shows. We get military and history international and they're better. They need to get the reality crap off and have like a history reality channel or something. I like life after people but 90% of the stuff can go in the trash. I refuse to watch chasing mummies as the guy who is in charge, whatever his name is, is an arragant @ss who like throwing tantrums and treating his workers like crap. He's the egyptian version of that caveman running Orange County Choppers.

I was really looking forward to this show, and after watching 10 minutes of the first episode, I just knew it was staged. Like Kylash said, it's totally scripted, staged, and acted. The tell tale sign for me was the "interns". They are working with the head of Egyptology of Egypt IN Egypt, and they know nothing! I never took one single archaeology course in my life, and know more than they do. You know how many real students would kill for an opportunity like that?? Plus, the actress Zoe is horrible. I looked her up the day of the premier, and her own personal site (http://www.zoedamato.com) and My Space said she was a professional actress based in New York. There was even a blurb about how excited she was to show off her acting in the Chasing Mummies show. Now, all of that seems to be mysteriously gone.

This show is total bullsheet, History Channel should be ashamed.

No, he's a notorious jerk, that's fully 100% real. :lol He's famed for his self-publicising efforts and interviewers have recounted how badly he treats his dig workers for years.

I don't watch TV any more either, that's why I'm here yakking away every night. At least once it's too late to use noisy tools in the shed. :)

I watched the first episode and couldn't believe how bad it was. I watched again last night and was in the same boat. I'm not going to watch this scripted P.O.S. anymore. It's too bad, it had real potential... and it turned into this.

I just read an article last week, wish I saved it, but the interns are all actors on the girl who got stuck in the cave, she has a website where it says shes a model and an actress. Plus when she gets "stuck" you see the camera in front of her and behind her but no cameraman, meaning they shot it twice

I have not had my Dish for about a year now and lately
been thinking of getting it back for just a " few " shows ?

I used to LOVE to have the History Channel on in the background while
working on projects as there's WERE allot of great programs on
throughout the day...

Now, not so much... :unsure

They need to get BACK to actual " HISTORY CHANNEL TYPE SHOWS "
and not the B.S. that has infested the other networks ! :sick

I know one I loved that I thought was great was a series hosted
by one of our fan favorites PETER WELLER !

Awesome series ! :thumbsup

They should bring HIM back for a new series !
