Help with Spawn suit

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and I must admit you guys are externly talented!!
But the reason I'm here is to ask for help with making a spawn costume.
I found one online to buy but it's $3,000!!

Can I make a plastic suit like the movie for cheaper? If so where would I even start!!!!

Second question... Does any one here do custom work?

I think you should do further research on how they did it in the movie.

But, maybe you should make a duct tape body form, put a lycra suit on it, move on to foam muscle structure and latex it maybe?

For starters, your best bet is too look around this forum and examples on how other have built there hero costumes. This way you'll familiarize yourself with the terminology and methods as to how people make their costumes.

Once you have an idea of how other's make their suits, see if you can come up with your own way based on the budget you have, and construction skills you have.

It might get frustrating if people just tell you how to do something, but you have no basic understanding of the methods. Some general cosplay building concepts will definitely get you one step closer.

But to answer your question: a duct tape body is basically used as a mannequin but it's formed from your own body using duct tape. It's a simple way of making your own mannequin basically.

Lycra is stretchy material used for lots of superhero costumes. In other words, basically it's spandex.

Is there some place to learn how to make a duck tape suit?

I'm not trying to sound lazy just stuck in traffic can don't have a full search option ATM

You don't even have to search on this forum on how to make a duck tape body double, use any search engine and type it in. Should get several results on how to make it, even look it up on youtube.

Thanks guys. i searched youtube when i got home and found some videos. kind of simple to make a duct tape suit.

Only problem. what do i do with the suit after i make it? do i have to make a mold out of plaster then mold cly to it. this is the confusing part

Ok so in the picture you posted. Did you paint over the tape black or did you put the black spandex over it?

How did you create the raised ridges on the arms?

After you make the duct tape dummy, you stuff it with foam or fabric, then stretch your bodysuit over it. Next you cut out upholstery foam and glue it on the suit to mimic muscles. Next glue fabric over the foam. Finally cover it all in latex, paint and add a cape.

Get lots of reference pics!!!! The more angles u can get the more detail u can see. Research is very important.
