Help with Hammer?

Hi everybody

My girlfriend and I are working on Ramona Flowers Hammer (Scott Pilgrim Videogame version)

We are using furniture foam as the actual hammer head, and a aluminium broom handle as the hammer handle. However, we have no idea how we can secure the pole to the foam once the pole goes inside the foam block. Can anybody help? Just need a tip on how to secure it so the foam doesn't fall off or slide off

Maybe wrap the end of the pole with duct tape then coat that with superglue? Also, if you can, spray or coat the opening of the foam with plastidip. It should stay with the foam, but give the glue more surface to adhere to. And of course, keep it tight!
