Can anyone help me out with making a fake weld line? I want to do one on a helmet and have no clue where to start.

I used a hot glue gun, came out excellent. I'll see if I can find pics......

I think maybe it's been said but I'll add. Hot Glue is definitely the way to go.

I've used plumbers epoxy putty in small beads. A lot of the builders for ghostbusters proton packs use it for weld lines on a couple of items. I did see lots of images on the ghostbusters forum when I built a pack. Worked great.

There's many way to make a weld (going down motion/going up motion) that makes for different "look" of the finish weld. I prefer a "going up weld" it looks better and the welding pros will tell you that it's a more solid weld also;) ...yeah, hot glue man, hot glue.

I've used epoxy sculpt with good results and even green stuff for small areas. Just used a rubber tipped sculpting tool to push it up onto itself over and over after applying.

Well looks like my hunch was right. I appreciate it all. Thank you. Anyone have any of their finished pics I can use for reference?

I used epoxy putty to do a fake weld on my Ghost trap build- you can see the pics of how it's done here http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=271653

Here's the finished helmet. Still messing with the weld lines. Trying to get the color right.
