Hi everyone. There are a number of us working on a "Royce" (Adrian Brody's character) costume from the movie, Predators. The vast majority of Royce's clothes/gear is unmodified found parts. We have IDed most of them, but one part is particularly maddening and we could use your help in finding it.

On the front of Royce's Molle Tactical Vest are two shotsheel panels, each holding 8 shotgun shells. One of these panels doubles as the sheath for Royce's Tops 107C Steel Eagle knife. While we don't know these items to be found items, I strongly believe they are.

I am attaching a number of screen caps of the pieces in question and I am willing to give the first person who PUBLICLY POSTS IN THIS THREAD the correct identity of this piece $50 via paypal. This is a small price for me to pay considering the cost of having these pieces custom made if we can't find them. Again, I want to make it clear that if you ID this piece, I will only pay you if you publicly post it here for all to see and take advantage of.

Here are some things we know as well as some things we think:

  • The panels hold 8 shells each.
  • The panels appear to be padded.
  • I tend to believe these panels may actually be removable pads from a shotgun sling.
  • The panels have 3 horizontal crossbars on the back for attachment.
  • The panels seem to be attached to the vest only via the top and bottom crossbar, possibly with wireties.
  • The panels do not appear to be attached to the vest via the expected molle system of attachment, making me believe the panels are not natively molle-compliant.
  • One of the panels hold the knife, but I think it was modified to do so and that was not the original intent of the panel.

That is pretty much it. Please take a look and please feel free to search the net or your own resources for these pieces. We are so close to having everything IDed and I would hate for these to go unidentified.

I'm pooped out from searching shotgun shell carriers, belts, shotgun molle, shotgun pal, bdu belts, and just about everything else I can think of. Taking a closer look at the carriers, I fear they may be a custom job.

He uses such an inefficient method of carrying rounds for a magazine fed weapon when other better options exist. what's up with that? I haven't seen the movie but does he carry a traditional shotgun at some point?

The way he has it on his vest is such a sloppy way of affixing it on his person. It's a movie I know.

But I also found this to be interesting, in that I think the seamstress screwed up on one of the carriers.

oops?

IMO I think it's a modified padded sling.

wish I had better news man. g'luck on the hunt!

i wonder since most everything else is blackhaw, if this is a modified blackhawk pr forearm shotshell holder. it holds the magic number of 8 shells, has three straps to hold onto the forearm. might explain why there are three but only two used on royce's rig. this one's bugging me and i dunno why.

Royce carries an AA12 auto shotgun... 16 extra rounds on his chest, which wouldn't even fill one drum, and an extra drum on his back... essentially a couple of seconds of firepower, but he lugs that shotgun around almost the entire movie... :lol:lol:lol I just look at it and think to myself, hey, if they can make us believe one backpack can feed a minigun for over a minute, we can believe anything at all!

IMO they look custom, like you said probably from a larger sling or bandoleer

With a little work these could be passable alternative...

Original S.O.E. Gear

Flynn, until I get customs made (if this search fails) those will probably be my stand-ins until the customs are finished. They are indeed the closest thing I have found.

Just a note, most of Royce gear is Condor, not Blackhawk, although it looks like Blackhawk because Condor apparently rips off all of Blackhawk's designs. Royce's pistol holster is a Blackhawk though, so he does have Blackhawk gear.

I looked at the forearm holder and wish they had better pics posted.

Royce's panels do have three straps on the back of them. I assume they didn't attack it by all three because it was too hard to reach the middle one, but it is there.

I thought the build of this piece from Blackhawk was very similar.

BLACKHAWK! Shotgun Cartridge Slide - BLACKHAWK!

I think they sewed a sheath on the back of a stock piece. The stitching looks uneven.

Pics 1 and 9 have different stitching on the top. 2 props, custom sewn.

Alright, because I am really lazy, let me make one last ditch attempt at this. Most of Royce's gear is unmodified. I still think there is a chance this is as well, especially considering the 3 straps on the back. I am upping the reward to $100 if anyone can positively identify these pieces. I REALLY don't want to have these custom made...

This looks pretty close, not sure if it's exact:

There's no preview for other colors, but I think khaki might match.

EDIT: Found another pic of it:

And the site, since they have different color option of "tan":

Here's a real world view of the Original SOE Gear that keeps being brought up. Close, but no cigar.

And another one that I found. This one's a cheap $10 generic tray.

Elastic Straps are too wide, and it doesn't have the "foamy" material in the center.

Although, this pic does give some small credence that it might be a found item.

Not sure of the maker.

I'd love to take your money but I think it custom. I had another look around. Real belts are narrow, with the shells hanging over top and bottom.

It's an odd item to sell. Shotgun shell/giant knife holder.
