Help! Monster Makers Rd-407 And Shipping

Hi everyone,

I have been reading alot of threads on here for the past week or so and I am ready to embark upon the Body Suit/Skin making journey!

I found the  1 gallon of RD407 mask making latex on Monster Maker and am about to place my order. I do not live in the states but I will be visiting until the 30th of this month. SO I find myself in a wee bit of a predicament. I saw that they advise you to use air shipping during the winter months to avoid freezing of the latex. However when I went to check out the only clickable option for shipping available was ground shipping. I have since called them and they have advised that I email Amber@monstermakers.com to arrange for the air shipping. I am in a bit of a rush as I had intended to order everything this week to ensure that it gets to NY where I will be visiting in time (ie by the 30th dec).

SO with that backdrop I have the following questions:

1) Has anyone ever used the air shipping option? If so how did one go about it? Do you simply state in the "questions/additional info box' at check out that you would like for them to use that option? Or should I wait for a reply from Amber? Please keep in mind my time frames.
2) Is there another site that people have used to get reputable rd407 latex which provide the air shipping option?? I really dont want to go thru all this trouble n then get a gallon of frozen unuseable latex.

Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated!

you should be able to call them and arrange it , but i would not reccomend shipping it from that far using ground once it feezes your screwed. and no refunds

Yea Thank you! I was thinking the very same thing. I will try calling them again, hopefully someone helps me this time :)

There's a bunch of places online to get RD 407, so I would check around and see what you find.  I checked into some RD 407 from a different site, but they wanted more to ship it via air than the cost of the latex (and it's only 3 hours from me).  MM shipping is right in the ballpark with most of the rest of the places that people use, so I would be prepared to "take one for the team" when it comes time to ship it.  Have you checked for any local sources?  In my case, a 3 hour trip to Atlanta is much cheaper than paying the air shipping, and I would get it sooner.  If your close to any decent size city, you may just find what you need locally.

Hey Brian,

Thanks for the tips man! I finally got unto someone and they gave me the air shipping options. The cheapest one being $32 usd for 2nd day air, So I think I will just go with this option as I wont have much time to go searching locally. Do you think it would still freeze with this option? Because the next day air shipping prices are twice the amount of the latex itself haha! It should be fine no?

hope you get sorted out, i'd like to remind folks that even though the names are similar i am not connected to monster makers, had a couple of people point me to the thread, but nothing to do with me sorry!

Ok just as an update, I got my latex unfrozen! *dances* I only have one q tho, since latex shrinks suits and I plan on using a form fitting lycra suit and then adding the musculature with foam on it....How do you get ur feet into the leg portion of the suit? Im scared that after I latex the suit the ankle portion would be too rigid to allow my feet to get into it. Anyone have any experience with this? Would I need to put a zip into the calf area?

the best way i have done it was you need to put a zipper in the back of the lacra suit . go light or not at all under the arms with the latex to flex and breathe and i suggest booties or a set of feet like the ones i made for mine that lace up the back and you can get your feet in them because you don't have to latex past your calves.

Ok cool thanks, will try making the leg part detachable like you suggest, thinking of making a flap to hide the zipper at the back as well! :D

Hey guys,

So I started on the suit, but there's a twist, I decided to do a Gargoyle cosplay instead of a Predator (dont kill me hehe)    I know its off topic so I posted it in the appropriate section of this site, however I would like to say thanks to everyone on here, because the techniques I used to make this suit, I still learned from you guys. Along with the advice given in this post. If you are interested in seeing what I did http://www.thehunterslair.com/topic/29840-gargoyle-wip/ thats the link to the post. Perhaps it could be helpful to those doing female preds even though it's not a pred itself?

Thanks again guys! :D
