Help identify this gold mesh, please.

I'm doing a build up of a very oddball padd that was seen in an episode or two of ST:Enterprise. I'm looking for a source for the gold mesh that is seen in those little mound looking things.

Any ideas??

For scale, the whole padd measures about 7.5 inches across.

Look like (bare with me as I try to spell this) aireators. You know, the things you put on your water faucet.

But I don't know that I've ever seen them in brass.

DropShip, you and I think alike. that was the first thing I thought of. I hit Home Depot, but all of theirs had a cross hatch mesh, not this kind. But I REALLY like the EMA stuff that was linked to. Great lead. I'll try to find a supplier in the US, but if not, I'll go with them. Big thanks for the heads up.

If anyone happens to have any other ideas, please let me know.

Try mcmaster.com. Search for perforated brass and choose the straight perf option. I am not sure what spacing/hole size you are looking for but you might find one you can use.

Reminds me of some old headphones (ear buds) I used to have but the mesh was black rather than gold.

Hmm.... I think old-school headphones would be a thing to check out. I wouldn't have thought of them myself, but now that they've been mentioned, I remember having seen that kind of grill on them back in my childhood days...

I'm pretty sure it's one of two things-

Try a company called "Lumred". They make a wide variety of plastic/ cloth meshes that have often been used in Trek over the years. their product is a white or black fine mesh that has plastic beads or tiles bonded to the surface in a bunch of colors and shapes including little gold beads like that. Their most recognizable Trek product is their pewter "perforated tile" seen in Worf's season 2-7 TNG sash pins, Q's 21st century super soldier costume, and the early Ferengi head wrap things.

Ask for their swatch cards- there's all kinds of great designs! They'll also do custom runs!

The other thing it might be is actual metal mesh from Whiting and Davis. Lots of their products have been used in Trek over the years too, frequently on Klingon costumes and accessories.

They make chainmail by the yard in various sizes and finishes, and a cool mesh that consists of several styles of metal tiles connected at the corners by little stamped metal rings on the bottom. a lot of women's purses ar covered with this stuff as well as the STTMP Klingon sashes.

You'd want their "bubble mesh" in bright gold. :)

Good luck!

Check out car parts stores, some carry replacement car speaker grills. You used to be able to get Communicator grids that way. Worth a shot.

It still reminds me of a plumbing fitting with a brass filter inside. Maybe a brass valve that has a brass mesh filter.

There is a fine mesh available at Michael's craft stores to use for sculpting onto, several types of fine mesh in gold colors.
Maybe worth a look.
Or, ask the prop makers. Mike is on this board I think he is HMSMike or something? He may have done that. Johnny Nestorwicz (spelling?) was prop master. What season/episode?

I don't think it is and heres why, aerators tend to use a wire mesh, to me that does not look like a wire mesh, it looks like a grill a sheet of material with holes in it, doesn't look woven.

Although it’s not the same color or hole pattern, could it have been out of some sort of electronic equipment such as these cell phones?
