Helmet Interiors - How to make Smooth

So awhile ago I cast the Tau helmet from Warhammer 40k I had sculpted by slushing the resin in the mold. The problem came when the resin began to cure. I got large drips and runs that cured and make the interior of the helmet look like crap. I continued to roll the resin around mostly so it did not pool and off balance the helmet.

My question is how you guys slush cast a helmet and get the nice smooth interior I have seen on all the helmets on here.

I had the same problem when I fiberglassed the inside of my tie helmet. I waited till the helmet was cured and mixed up a thin mixture of resin and slushed it around to get a smooth finish.

That is a good idea, I will have to try it. I will still have to dremel down some major drips but I think that will work. Thanks

if you dont slush too big of amount of resin at one time you wont have that issue or waste either. Build up the insides slower with less amounts of resin and you wont have that problem.

I think that was my major problem. It was my first time doing it so I was unsure how much to do at a time. When I recast my helmet, the original molds were destroyed in the process, I will know to go slowly.

You can also add a thickening agent to the resin such as cabosil whch will make it like a paste, then you can brush it on nice and smooth.
