Hi

So the helmet is the last thing to build until i have all the parts done. So far all have fit me (albeit some rather snug) but i dont think the helmet will....

Well thats a lie, at present it literally hugs my head, so im guessing no room for hinges (which just wont do!)

My question is how much do ya recon i can scale it up without it looking too big fir the rest of the suit? 10% 20%???

Quite ironic predicament given my username!!!

From what I've seen, you just have to use trial and error when scaling. And since you plan on using the rest of the armor without scaling it, there's not much you can do but build a bigger helmet and see how it looks. If you can't make it bigger without it looking disproportionate to the rest of the armor, you'll probably have to resize the armor too, or just accept that it looks out of proportion.

I guess my advice is try to increase the size as little as you can. You said the helmet is snug right now, but at least you can get your head in, so maybe try increasing it by only 5% and see if you can live with that. Though I confess I haven't tried to scale any pep, so I don't know how much a 5% increase would really be.

But if you plan on putting the time and money into making a good looking set of armor, you really should make sure it's properly sized before moving forward. It may seem like a waste of time to re-pep the whole armor, but you won't be doing yourself any favors by making ill-fitting armor. I've seen really well made Iron Man suits on here that looked bad just because they didn't fit right.

Which files are you using? Also, if it's pretty snug to your head, but fits ok other than needing a little extra room for electrics etc, I wouldn't scale it up too much. I would open up the file at it's current scale in Pep Designer, open up the Scale Factor under the 2D menu and check the width of the helmet. Then maybe add a couple of mm's to it. However, bare in mind that in doing that it also changes every other dimension, so it will also become a little taller and longer from front to back, so you don't want to add HEAPS more room if you only really need a little for extra stuff. Otherwise it won't fit your head properly.

Or you could take a hot shower, get your head nice and wet, then wrap it really tight in an ace bandage for the night. Do this for about two weeks and your head should fit nicely in the helmet. :lol

Thanks for the help, i want to print on at 10% bigger. My helmet now us about 140mm wide (ear to ear) so that shoukd give me 7mm either side for hinges etc.

The helmet needs to be spot on as its such an iconic part of the armour

How do i scale it exactly (step by step please) using pep viewer 3

Thanks

A balaclava will help you getting the head in and out (if you still planning to keep the helmet)

This seems to be an issue with the real helmet, it looks like Downey's head is really squeezed in there.

Lol at the loose buckle

So long as there is nothing pressing against my temples and cheeks the hinges should have enough room

So far of my resized helmet ive done the face plate, it is bigger, but not by much, will have to wait until tomorrow to see if the rest is big enough
