HAWAII 5-0 (New version)

This is what I've come up with, though it's completely made up, and not based on anything seen on the show. I can't recall seeing any actual ID cards in use, only the badges clipped to their belts.

Speaking of the badges, they're almost the same as the original badges (and all the replicas out there) but definitely different.

the work is nice, but very not accurate... pic of Garrett and more détails

the text on bottom is very not correct the seal of Hawaii also

the production used 3 différents models for the Pilot épisode ( one id Garrett Navy seal Team, and two Garrett Five-o id ) for the first season only one
similar of your pic but différent.

for the next Badges just littles différences but very similar with the original show.

Were any of these ID's actually seen on screen? I've watched every episode and can't recall seeing any 5-0 ID cards at all. Caplan, do you have any screen caps or reference material?

It was the lack of any reference material that led me to use a standard military ID as the basis for mine. All of the individual elements came from google.

The biggest reason I ended up making my own (other than I love police badge/ID props and playing with Photoshop) is that the ebay-style cards just look silly to me. The wording is redundant, the layout is really awkward and it seems confused about being an ID or a warrant card.

I really hope any actual production props aren't that poorly designed.

It's probably a good thing that the State seal is not authentic and I highly doubt an ID Badge would say that McGarrett was appointed by the governor.

Since there is no actual reference material, yours looks great WW. To bad they always use weird publicity shots for the actual pic. I remember they did the same for Magnum.

Because there wasn't one in the old show either, just a business card as far as I know of... :)

It was actually the 60s business card I pulled the "officer in charge" title off of. I like that better than "Special Investigator of the Special Investigative Unit." That doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, does it?

I am going with the old style badge, since I'm not going to let the one panel that's slightly different between the old and new versions keep me from actually having a badge. I'm usually picky about my badge replicas, but not this time.

Hi Winston

for your answer, yes! I have very nice référence matérial
I have the original scan for one model used on the show, I worked the réplica for my collection.

yes! the production is based on the US Army identification card for the making id's Garrett and Team. barre-code seal of Hawaii rank... COMPLETELY MADE-UP by the production ( exactly for the Mentalist id's the first original model is LOW ).

with différents détails, (exemple: text of the law on bottom, on one model with issued date, and expiration ) on top State of hawaii in blue color...for the second model not with issued date?? and no State of Hawaii and more....

my replica is based on the first model size crédit card.

Hi have also the original scan of the Garrett id Navy Seal with the pic not in uniform, pic utilized also for the id Five-o Unit.

the original work is very simple!! no correct visible on the show WHY!! the original work is very LOW!! the production is very not sure of the succes of the Pilot épisode ....is simple.

why to think that all id's is constructed well without any defects of comprehension?? you are very very far from reality
for making réplica is very easy
only the text of law State of Hawaii is not easy for the accurate text on the show.

espéred my explications is clear for the members

Winston, here for you the original pic Garrett id's used on the show.
and to have a model a little more accurate you must round up angles and put a number of series under the name

Yeah, someone had posted a pic of theirs in one of the other "favorite badge" threads, and I had completely forgot. :$

@ Caplan...Thanks for the McGarrett mugshot!

BTW, here's a publicity photo that shows the badge pretty clearly to compare with the old badge. The only difference seems to the "Five-0" panel...the rest looks like a perfect match.

Don't be sorry. I think this has turned out to be a pretty interesting discussion.

Perhaps they'll get around to showing some IDs on the show that'll give us more to talk about.

When I get a physical version of my card I'll post up some pics of the whole set put together.

I was going to get a recessed Perfect Fit badge holder, but after seeing that pic above of the real badge close up they're using a universal (non recessed) belt holder, at least for Chin Ho anyway...

I post soon the pic on my set with the réplica id Garrett used on the show
but in low resolution.
