Are you trying to make your own bird or something? Otherwise, like I said they're symmetrical/identical on both sides for all practical purposes. If you had those above already, why did you say you needed to see the back?

Specifying your purpose/needs might be helpful.. Haunted Studios doesn't seem to be too popular around here and the full feather version even less so since it was not used on-screen, if at all.

No, I'm not looking to make my own bird, I am in no way talented enough to do anything like that. I would like to purchase a full feathered bird, maybe one of the older plaster versions that used to be available. But I have seen a few photos online of plaster and resin versions, and from what I have seen there are some differences, maybe just from wear in the molds that were used, and maybe differences from the way they were sculpted in the first place. Also, although both sides look identical, from what I have seen, they are not identical, and there are very slight variations.

This is why I was asking on here if any of our members own a full feathered Falcon, whether it be a Haunted Studios one, or just one they have picked up off ebay over the years. I was hoping someone who owns one, could provide some close up images from all sides. Better photos than those I have seen online.

I'm not an expert, but I believe that the Haunted Studio resin full feather uses the same parent mold as the old plaster ones. They look pretty detailed to me. It's the newer "cinematically accurate" version I've seen issues with (and own one). Namely, the appear to sand down the full feather one to supposedly match the process used with the original movie resin ones. The problem is they went a bit too far on the back and so feathers are missing around the neck line. I think the texture looks "plastic like") close up instead of black lacquer coated lead. I think this was poor painting. I bought an "Oz" bird and there's no comparison in the finish, IMO. The "Oz" falcon looks more believable as paint covered lead in that it's on nice and thick and smooth with no rough texture to it.

I've seen several birds for sale on eBay and clearly some are entirely different sculpts of varying quality. If you're patient, you can probably snag a quality plaster version if that's your preference. I couldn't say how the Haunted Studios plaster version compares texturally, though.

Yeah, I'll be keeping an eye out on here and ebay as I do quite like the old plaster full feather version, even if they are not accurate. I'm sure there used to be a couple of photos of the full feather version here on the RPF, but since the whole change to photobucket, many photos are no longer available to view.

I was just watching "The Black Bird" (1975). It's a sequel of sorts to the Maltese Falcon. It's more of a comedy with George Segal, although it does feature Elisha Cook Jr. reprising his role. But I did notice that it features the "full feather" version of the statue like the Haunted Studios version (both earlier plaster and newer resin ones). I found that kind of odd since it's supposed to be the same "fake" as the original movie, but I suppose those that have the full feather statue can at least point to a movie with screen time for it. The movie itself is not very good for the most part, even though I generally like George Segal (at least when he was in Just Shoot Me).

If Haunted Studios would email photos of their latest offering cast, I would possibly buy a full feathered Falcon direct from them. But as they won't, I will wait and see if I can pick one up secondhand.

Sorry to crash this thread, but around 15+ years or so ago, the Mysterious Bookshop in NYC used to sell $40 plaster Falcon replicas. I was curious if anyone knew who produced these?

About 5 years ago I was trying to sell my Haunted Studios plaster falcon and nobody wanted it. I ended up selling it dirt cheap.

I spotted this Full Feathered Falcon on eBay today: The Maltese Falcon Classic Bogart Movie Prop Replica | eBay

It's resin, so it may be Haunted Studios but it's being sold by someone else. You could perhaps ask them any questions you have about it.

Ironically, I saw a plaster version for sale about six or seven months ago on eBay for somewhere around $50. It had a couple spots where the paint chipped off and you could see the white plaster underneath. I thought about getting it just to have a different version (could always touch up the spots if desired), but it must have sold at some point. It was on there for quite time time (well over a month at least) and was marked as being from an estate sale.

That's CoolModels, they recast pretty much every thing they touch. Avoid them.

I have the Haunted Studios other Falcon (the screen accurate one) and I'd imagine the paint job is similar. It's not "smooth" like the OZ Falcon. It's not crackled rough looking either. It's just OK. (see prior post for comparison photo: Haunted Studios Maltese Falcon.). Other than the paint job, I think those ebay photos of the recasts are still what it looks like from those angles as it's probably a recast of the Haunted Studios bird (not sure why they don't get sued). I also don't know why Haunted Studios can't be bothered to snap a few photos for you.
