No, I'm not taking sea creature. But The device for the movie "Strange Days". The one that lets you live someone else life for 45 minutes. You know squid - Superconducting QUantum Interference Device. I looking for the one Lenny wears in the movie. If someone has made them who and how. I really would like to know. Thanks

Haven't made one, but I do like the design.

Always seemed like a fun prop - lights, actions, lots of details.

Very cool prop! And I was amused that yes, once again the futuristic computer storage medium is... Sony MiniDisc. :lol

These images are from "The Matrix", since I couldn't find anything at all from "Strange Days" on the web... :lol

Does anyone have a picture of the prop?

I'm getting a red x from Phase Pistol's post.

Sorry, my pic in the post was actually of Neo holding a minidisc from The Matrix. :lol

Simulation and Simulacra, indeed. And Similac.

Odd tho, I did some googling and there's NOTHING but NOTHING about Strange Days out there, except the poster, for the most part.

Somebody needs to do some frame grabbin... assuming anybody has the DVD. :lol

And to be fair, I loved the MiniDisc format too, and used it throughout the 90s.. but ultimately my player broke (all my discs would just click and not be read) :( ... so rather than replace it I just switched to iPod. :)

I know this is an old post, but for those who are looking for the minidisc used for the film, most of them appear to be the TDK brand MD-XG, which is available in both 60 minute and 74-minute versions (one of the closeups seen in the picture below is the 74-minute version with the shutter removed off it). It appears the 60-minute version was used for the closeup of Lenny's shoebox, with the recordings of Faith, which are also missing the shutter on the disc. There are two different versions of graphics on the MiniDisc for the MD-XG, with the one pictured below appears to be the earlier version (as the later versions have a different looking "Insert This End" arrow). In one scene, when Lenny is dropping off the "custom gift" to Tex Arcana (the guy without legs), there's a box for the TDK MD-XG 60 (on the box it says MD60 on it) when he goes to put the tape into the deck.

The funny thing is that if you can't find any MiniDiscs on the cheap to use for the spinning disc inside of the SQUID device, you can easily use a Sony PSP game, as the discs are roughly the same size and are more abundant to be able to use for the spinning disc than the MiniDiscs are.

Great pics Cb and Ronin!!

Was just watching this Classic a few weeks ago, introducing it to some youngsters

Turns out a friend of mine actually worked on the originals...

Tell your friend I still have the hero one! The one in the second group of pictures is the exact one I have. It still works (spins up and lights), although missing a few more greeblies by they time I got it...
Better pic of if here:

Thanks, but all I did was provide info. The GIF was something that's available on the Internet. However, I have picked up a 5-pack of the JVC Minidiscs.
