Harrmy's Star Wars Despecialized 2.5

Not sure if this will help or not, but.....

If you have a modern TV with a built in media player, you can download 2.5, dump it onto a flash drive usb stick thingy, plug it into your TV and VOILA!!!
It works on my Samsung 3d plasma...you'll get 5.1 DD sound, (if connected to an amp....duh....) but not the DTS-HD-MA 5.1

Just a suggestion!

If you don't have a built in media player, you can get one for around $100 and plug it into an HDMI port. I bought one specifically for watching the OT, but now it gets more use than my BR player! :) well worth the investment. :thumbsup

I could mail someone a flash drive..... and they could check it out and see if the OT would fit on it..... if it ... somehow... came back and ... somehow... had the original trilogy... accidentally... left on it..... I wouldn't complain.

Didn't i do you a disc, Rodney?

You're very welcome!

Well, i have got ESB Despecialised and it's good to a point. As it's only a 1.0 version, there are problems...the lightsabers in particular are a bit off.....the rotoscoping leaves an obvious halo around the blades and Vader's saber looks painted on in some scenes.

I hate to sound like an old record, (remember those?)

.... OldKen i can't PM you because your inbox is full!!!! Lol!!!!

I need to see this too! I Just upgraded my living room to a 55 inch smart tv and a sound bar with subwoofer and of course the old lady threw out the VHS player not realizing I kept that specifically for Star Wars :(

I got yer PM and sent another...

Appearently the ps3 doesn't read straight Mkv files! DOH!

Turns out my TV is almost the same TV as Rich's...

It is also a newer 3d samsung... I've had it for over a year and never tried plugging a USB stick into it... My ps3 has always worked for that...

Turns out my TV DOES have a media player... DOUBLE DOH!!!

I'm betting my damn TV could play it better than a BR player and the PS3 sounds like you have to use a special program to make the MKV playable on BD via a PS3...

It's been a good while since I've tried playing files on the PS3,...my son has moved it to his room,

I do remember that the PS3 doesn't play MKV's.

An MKV file is just a container holding the video file & the audio file, I used to convert the MKV with a program called MKV to VOB,.....it zips through the file in less than a minute,...no re-rendering or anything, it just repackages the video & audio into a VOB (video object folder.....the same type of folder that is used in DVD.....don't worry it won't effect the HD)

The only other thing that bugged me about the PS3 was that it will only accept FAT32 off USB's meaning that if your HD movie is over 4GB the FAT32 won't do.....the PS3 doesn't accept Mac or Windows NTFS, so really the large movie would need to be on a disc or streamed to the player

This is the BD player i bought specifically to play the SW: DE disc.

Sorry I'm late. In anticipation of showing the OT to my 7-year-old son one "boys' weekend," I acquired D2.5 but ended up just showing him the widescreen VHS. Anyway, this discussion got me to start browsing my collection of SW fan edits and while I really like Harmy's work, and I believe in preserving the OT, I really, really like what Adywan has done with ANH Revisited. Some of his changes give me goosebumps, like Luke calling for Biggs, or the expanded TIE fighter reveal. Adywan's choices highlight the glaring omissions and silly choices GL made for the special editions. (I didn't buy the Blu-ray set and I won't.) If you're going to redo the dogfight effects, why not make it bigger and add more ships and dogfighting? Why not use the Imperial March in ANH?

That said, I also want to recommend "The War of the Stars" 1 and 2. It's interesting to see the deleted footage added back in to 1, but what's really great is how the editor (The Man Behind the Mask) cut ESB and ROTJ together and eliminated most of the Ewok footage and then gave the trilogy a completely different ending. An ending I rather prefer to the original.

That is all. Carry on.

Same boat...would love to have these on blu ray...like would really really like to have them if you know what I mean...

No joke, right? I've managed to get the ANH movie, but it doesn't seem to have chapters. Haven't had any luck finding ESB & ROTJ.
