Here is a commission that I wrapped up today - Harley Quinn! The commission included: bodysuit, hood, bib, cuffs, boots. On to some visual aids!
This is the hood mockup. I put one of my thicker wigs onto a wig head, then I pinned a tube of spandex to it. I knew I wanted a seam down the center as well as to darts out to the side (where the horns would later intersect), so I pinned until I had my approximate shapes. I marked all my seam lines with a marker.
Then, I unpinned my mockup, trued up my lines, and transferred the pieces on to paper with some seam allowances. Here is the (almost) finished hood.
These are the cuffs and a closeup of the diamonds on the bodysuit. The cuffs are two layers of ribbon (3.5 yards per cuff) gathered with elastic thread. The ribbon is wired, so it is easy to shape into pretty curves.
Here is the bodysuit. This was before I finished up the hems, collar, and closed up the legs. It is made out of stretch velvet.
Here are all the finished accessories. The boots are pleather. I painted one of them with red Nu-Life. The bib is made out of silk. There is fusible fleece on the inside to make it a little soft.
No pictures of the finished bodysuit yet since I don't have a mannequin that it will fit on now that the legs are closed up =(
Big thanks to my helpers Mary and Amanda on this project! Mary prepped my shoes for paint and Amanda trued up and cut out my bib pattern.
