Hard to believe it's already been 30 years since my favorite comedy of all-time hit the big screen for the first time, June 16, 1980. Of course, being that I'm a Chicagoan this move holds a special place in my heart for various reasons. On another note this film in particular paved the way for modern film production in the city of Chicago. There was a great article in the Chicago Tribune today focusing on that.

My black blues fedora is off today for one of the best comedy teams in one of the best comedies of all time, and two Chicago icons.

A great movie! 30 years and still holds up after many viewings, can't say that about a lot ofmovies

At Comic-Con last year, I was standing at the Gentle Giant booth admiring the Wizard of Oz display. As I turned to leave I literally bumped into John Landis.

I said, "Oh my, Mr. John Landis"

He said "Shhh!! Don't tell anyone"

I stuck out my hand thanked him for the Blues Brothers. First one that came to mind.

A classic to be sure.

"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses."

He seems to be there every year with his wife.

Blues Brothers was also the first "R" rated movie my parents took me to see. I was eight.

It didn't do incredibly well at the box office domestically but I do recall it was so packed in our theater (Ford City) here in Chicago that we had to take the front row. Soon after it was standing room only which is how theaters used to roll back in the day. I remember seeing all three Star Wars OTs, Temple of Doom and E.T. with people sitting and standing in the walkways and doors with the doors wide open. Ohhhh...how I miss those days.

Haven't watched that movie in years. Somewhere in a box of records at home I have the movie soundtrack album. I need to dig that thing out.

That soundtrack still remains one of my favorites to this day. Ackroyd acknowledged that he still can't believe they got all that amazing musical talent in the film. Not only is it a tribute to Chicago but also a tribute to the artists they grew up with, admired and loved, both physically in the film and in the songs they chose to play as the Blues Brothers.

The dvd's have the remastered soundtrack and sounds absolutely incredible compared to watching it on cable, which has been airing it regularly for months now. Still, I know that when I stumble upon The Blues Brothers while channel surfing that the remote will be put down till the movie is over.

I was in the Service when that Movie hit and it was sold out for every show at the base theatre!!

:cheers Heres to what was a a instant classic for me! :cheers

Definitely one of my favorites as well. The elevator scene is an absolute classic, I'll never not laugh.

Saw it in the cinema when it came out and it still rates as one of my all-time favourite films. The music was a huge influence on me.
