Han Solo ESB Jacket (mix of Bespin and Hoth Hanger)

Hey all,

I sadly don't get to post much here anymore, but I just wrapped up this jacket for someone and wanted to share!

This ESB jacket is a mix of details from the Bespin (Prop Store photos) and the Hoth Hanger version.

There is a lot of top stitching and oddities on these jackets, and I made some accuracy compromises for comfort and wearing regularly. There are some areas that are pressed and some that aren't (sleeve cuffs) like the originals.

The Prop Store jacket looked to me like the lining may have ben put in before it relaxed a bit, so the pockets sort of scoot up a bit, I tried to avoid that on this one just because unless you're Harrison Ford handsome, it would just look a bit off.

I did the pocket configuration similar to the Bespin, but gave the opening a bit more room like the Hoth.

There was a lot of input on the fabric choices - I'm not sure if they're a user here, but thanks for all the samples, Scott! It really shows how different photos/lighting greatly effects the color. In person, it is very grey, but in a lot of these photos the blue shows through.

Thanks for lookin!

This is my favorite jacket always has, always will be. I seriously envy your sewing skills

When building something of this caliber, is “sewing skills” even the correct terminology?

Fabric fabrication, or fabric engineering seems more fitting

All joking aside, sewing and making clothing is a HUGE grey area for me. I wouldn’t even know where to begin.. sewing a patch on to a jacket is one this.. creating a whole jacket like this

This is a professional level, and I truly respect it

Flawless job man!

Thank you! That is really high praise, and I am appreciative of all the feedback!

I'm only a month or so late, but are these photos from the prop store, or from your own work? Either way....amazing!

Well, I ended up making another jacket for myself this, and changed a few things up. I have a pretty short torso, so this one is a bit shorter
so that is reflected here. It is also a different wool. This should hopefully complete my personal ESB Costume (for now!)
