Hammers on the ROTJ Blaster

I think I may be close to finding the hammers on the side of the ROTJ blaster - I'd love to find out what these actually are, so I'm asking for help from the board to track them down.



Anyway, PartsofSW says they're probably old winchester hammers, but take alook at the hammers from the Smith & Wesson 659. They're very close, but not quite, but it might be a good starting point.

Help me board. I need a set of these.

Colt actually seems to be the closest, but we actually doubt they're real gun hammers.
Most likely they are from a replica gun- notice the bad seam line, might even be plastic.
The also don't look fully functional because of the simplistic design of the wider internal half.

Chris Reiff has done up a 3D CAD model of the hammers and is pricingthem out at a machine shop.

There's no through hole on the thumb rest, but the shape looks good including the odd curve on the top section.
Need to find some pics of the part itself.

I bought a Smith & Wesson 659 in the early 80's. My ex-wife stole it in the divorce. IIRC they had just come out with that model as the gun shop was all excited about it. I'd guess 1980 or 81. Might be an early S&W auto.

The top half looks about right (besides the lack of a through hole), but the bottom isn't as full round as the prop parts.
I'm still thinking a replica gun (MGC? Airsoft?) is the source. A real gun hammer probably would not have the awful seamline as seen on the prop - which also indicates plastic from the distortion. The prop hammers also lack complexity in the lower half so I think they're not from a fully functional weapon.

I'd imagine that they probably made a few extras to go around the prop department. I think it would have been cheaper to produce a few replicas instead of striping down guns or purchasing the part from a supplier. That could account for the bad seem lines.

Old thread but I'm looking for these to go on my MGC Sterling for a ROTJ E11.

Was there any development on this?

Old thread indeed... I did figure out the hammers... they're off of an old and exceptionally rare MGC semi-auto pistol replica.

I did up high detail 3D models of the pieces and replicated them with a super hires rapid prototype machine... Then made molds and cast urethane copies of them.

Thanks. They turned out pretty great but I've not bothered to complete my build yet... I did up the 3D model of the box as well but never made one up. Would love to do that at some point.
