Halo 4 DIDACT Build

DUUUDE!!! I've been watching this with out actually commenting. No idea why not cause this is just beautiful. Can't wait to see the light panels in. Great work bro.

So when I was playing the game and I saw the Didact I thought, yeah no one is gonna tackle that one. Glad to be proven wrong. Great work.

Geez David, you make this build look so awesome! I know you said the helmet was the easiest, but I can already tell, you knock this out!

Looking ace man. Really looking forward to seeing all the lighting in properly. Oh and on a side note you just cost me a load of money! My sculpting materials are starting to turn up in the post :)

This helmet is glorious. Are you going to sculpt his face as well? It would be awesome

Thanks,.. I have considered doing a prosthetic for under the helmet,.. but I fear how insanely hot that will be. One thing at a time though,.. just want to get the basic suit done first then will probably rework another version later on.

im curious as to what casting metthod you use? after you sculp itt how do you make the mold?

I have photos on facebook and dozens of hours of raw video recorded on my Ustream channel showing just about every stage I've done thus far. Basically I made a simple Silicone Glove mold of the helmet with a 2 part fiberglass mother mold,.. then cast the helmets in SmoothCast 300.

04/09/13 Halo 4 Didact Helmet Progress. Mostly painted and LED lighting installed. 192 LED bulbs total in this helmet. LED battery pack was pretty drained by the time I got around to taking photos, so lighting is a little dim here. Had them running for about 5 hours while installing everything to test battery pack lifespan. Poured some test eye lenses in Yellow tinted clear resin, should be ready to install tomorrow. Detail painting and a heavy gloss coat before it's finished.

Hey FX. Was watching the stream last night. Shame the chat doesnt work on an ipad or I would have said hi. Did you end up doing the colour tests for the eyes? My little boy and I were not well so didn't get to watch for long which is a shame because it was the part i wanted to watch.

Edit. Ah typical, you said as I was posting lol. Looking amazing man! Hopefully my clay will turn up today so I can start my first sculpt. How much clay did you use for the sculpt btw? Mine is going to need a lot for the very long ears I will be making but want an idea of the amount needed for this kind of thing then can estimate the extra I might need. I have a feeling I haven't ordered enough and the clay I bought wasn't cheap.
