I've been working on HAL for a little while now, just got to the point where I'm finally finishing the back plate.
WIP:
Depron foam, cardboard and resin back plate and lens surround.
Clear resin cast lens, unfortunately the first one I made had huge bubbles as you can see.
Final version of the backing plate with sheet styrene over the Depron.
Final version of the lens, needs to be painted black, the lens was made up of multiple layers of styrene and depron to give various textures to the outside and to mimic a vintage large format fish-eye lens, the inner lens 'bubble' was formed using a kids power-ball and the outside dome was formed over a small sky-map globe.
Should have a finished/painted version in a couple of days.
