My client/friend is the producer of Call of Duty BLACK OPS. I went over to the office here in Santa Monica. I had to sign a confidentiality agreement but it was really cool to see how it all goes down. They were in pre-production on the next game (which I can't talk about) and I have to say that I was jealous of the workspace and cool toys they had lying around (TONS of airsoft guns).

Anyway, it was fun to see. I wish I had pics to share, but I would have to kill each one of you that saw them. ;)

Did anything resembling a Mad Libs sheet come into view? That seems to be how they are copying each game. ;)

Sounds cool though! Did they let you take pictures? I'm guessing no since you had to sign something.

I can't say I miss that place much, but I can see how it would be cool to visit.

Bunting is "a" producer among many, not "the" producer. I swear, by the time I left there were more members of the production staff than there were actual developers. I always liked Dan, though. He's a good guy. Don't let him pump himself up too much, though. :lol

Still being in pre-production at the end of June is a BAD sign. Following the schedule of the previous games (at either studio), pre-production should have been over by Februrary or March at the latest. The success of Black Ops has had them too busy cranking out downloadable content to keep cashing in on that cow, but I know damn well that the ship date for their next one won't budge any. They'll have to crunch more than ever, if that is even humanly possible. It will look like a VERY different place a year from now.

That's one of the atriums at the Treyarch office in my avatar, on Halloween a few years ago. We worked incredibly hard, but still had some fun from time to time.

He is a good guy and the bonus checks those guys got this last round of Map Pack sales were SICK!!!!
I don't think I would mind working there...;)

Unfortunately no but really there wouldn't be much to take pics of. It's pretty dark inside and it's really just a bunch of cubicles and nerds. They cool things to see were the areas for animation, rendering, testing, map/environment developement, etc...

You should of told them they need to stop pumping out garbage and actually fix their games, especially the old ones which are now hacker infested. That's just me though! Cool you got to visit.

Man I still remember our COD4 days and how much fun we all had into the wee hours of the morning every day. I know its a different studio but its cool you got a tour because I know you love the games so much. It would have been awesome if they would have used your face for one of the generic multiplayer characters. Perhaps with a little booze and another tour?

Hmmmm...I will have to ask. I know that a few of the guys I met are the faces of the characters and my client was asked to have his face scanned but declined.
