Google Checkout - anyone use this as a seller?

Wasn't sure where to pop this up, so I am leaving it to the wisdom of the mods to see what forem it ends up in :)

I think it affects the hobby, to the main forum is ok, but it's about selling, so the JY is ok, but it's not entirely prop related, so off topic works too. Choose wisely :)

Anyway, my friend called me this morning asking me if I took google checkout since paypal is the spawn of satan and he hates it.

I said "Not yet... don't have a website to stick the button on".

He said "You can send email invoices and people can pay like that!"

and I said "Whoa... I don't care. It's sunday and I want to play my 360 in peace". (Condemned 2 waits for no man)

Long story short I did promise him that I would look into it, so here I am, peeking at you, wondering if you as a seller offer Google Checkout as an option.

If you do, are you happy with it? It seems to be a pretty good setup, but then again so does paypal until you get hosed.

The only thing I am really really curious about is does it offer a balance setup like paypal does? If so, do they offer shipping label processing like paypal?

So far it sounds ok. I might sign up for it for some future projects since a lot of people don't like paypal anymore (myself included), but I really like the label printing, and the debit card. I can live without the card if I have to, but the label printing on a big project is pretty sweet. I would hate to lose it.

So, reader of my post. Have you used google checkout as a seller, and if so, is it awesome?

I opened an account and tried it for about 4 months on one site to use as a payment option.

In my opinion, it was a bit "clunky" and more difficult to use than PayPal.

Plus, (this isn't an issue in your case), but it didn't communicate well with my shopping cart and a few orders got "lost" between being paid for and the payment notification.

No shipping labels, no debit card.

After 4 months, I stopped using it and went back to PayPal.
