Gold Leader Y wing, NiceN kit conversion.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Thats what i got T, at least my Ford part was found in the Yardley being a more ANH specific donor.
The BT44b (a personal fave of mine when i found it used on Slave 1) is usable for the job, having pretty much the same Ford DFV engine block, though ancillaries and transmission will differ i believe.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Hey Julien,Is that part also from the Nichimo Jagdtiger?I have the Jagdtiger & see a part that looks right, but looking at scans of the Jagdpanther I can't find the part.

Dave

Oops Dave, yeah thats a typo, I wanted to mean Jagdtiger ! :D

Yeah Talkierg, King Tiger = Tiger II :)

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Little bit more tinkering today, slowly simmering lol. Got the cans cut and rough/dry fitted.
They are just resting on the wing right now, so i need to get to the internal mounting later.
Most parts are already cast for the new engines anyhow, so from here, its a case of all systems go, though, only as fast as the mail can get the mini van of kits i need to carry on lol.

Cutting the cans, using my Proxxon and press as a jig, makes a perfect cut.

Same rule applies to the L'eggs, thanks for these Scott!

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

That rocks! :)

But using the Proxxon and press is just a variation of the "Guy Cowen method" which he used to engrave the lines on the rear of the B-Wing cockpit; did you ask for his permission? :behave ;)

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Ah, thats where your wrong Dan, ive used this (normally my large drill press) method to cut parts like this for quite some time bud, so no patent required :lol.
Used the same method to cut my Probe droid Saturn V cans for the leg joints.

Got a few parts in resin too today, there are more, but im out of rubber, so its swag order time :lol.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Great ! It's taking shape nicely, cant wait to see the plant-ons on the engines !

I wanted to use your trick to cut my sat V cans for my PD legs, like you did, but was too lazy to take the drillpress lol I need to do that next time !

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Thanks Julien, i cant wait to get those super nice plant ons on the cans too :love.

Ive always got my Proxxon set up bud, as i use the flexi shaft normally, but now when i need to make these kid of cuts, its already set up, just easier than having to lug out my big press.

It worked really well on the PD legs, just helped to get a super clean swing on the top joints, i even cut the Harley Quinn Popgun this way, its a spot on method.
