Gold Leader Y wing, NiceN kit conversion.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

I bet Lee was sitting in the cinema in 77..... While everyone was watching the movie .. Lee was shouting.... Airfix Saturn V, 1/72 Hasegawa Sherman, 1/24 Messer etc as the ships flew past and everyone told him to shut up.

Also:lol

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Cheers Jase, gonna get the Saturn V cans finished this week, at least fitted, ive a few parts to cast to detail them, may even get a few parts attached to the hull, ive already fitted original 8rad parts for the neck as my castings werent brilliant.

LOL ... I did just that, the other day, with Eagle 1 while rewatching Spaceballs :)

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

I recall that Lorne Peterson mentions detailing the 8ft SD with the other model makers and that they would rotate so no ones style would dominate. Maybe the Sculpting A Galaxy dvd. So even though they were just reaching for parts nearby the final placement was a very careful decision.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Paul? Think its Paul lol. Yes, thats in SAG and from the pen of Lorne, and its also a great insight, its actually, a very hard decision to make a set array of parts not take over the model, it all has to be seamless, and blend in.......not easy at all.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Yep that's me. Agreed, not easy to make things connect but look functional.

I'm very interested in seeing more of the TIE killer. One of those original Star Wars models placed in private hands and unless I'm reading too much between the lines around here, its intact and well preserved.

Definitely looking forward to more on yours. You got balls cutting up the Red Jammer but it's obvious it's in the right hands.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Paul i know, i got a very low numbered kit too, but i couldnt face doing the Jammer, building OOB these days is kinda boring, live life on the edge i say lol.
I wont, as ive said before, be replicating her part for part, thats for Steve and his mad scientists to pursue heh, im just looking to get close with the parts and detailing, and then nail the paint, from there, for me.....its a Ywing lol.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Took a bit of time to add some parts i do know today, not many of these though, this really is new ground for me lol.
Still not go the new engines ready for a dry fit, but i did begin the new wing patterns.

Heres a bit of thrift.....i didnt have a P51, so, seeing as i cut new neck parts from the 8rad, i shaved the parts i needed, off the NiceN castings, came out super and neat........im so cheap LOL.

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Now that's a clean shave! Hey if you have the parts, why buy a kit?p

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Thanks Paul, yeah, its a chintzy move, but, i dont want this build costing me a fortune, hence, im not chasing all the kits even if i find the ID's lol.
Itll be a nice Y, with much love poured in, im spending too much money of donors for more important builds right now in any case!
Many single parts included in my Jammer are already in rubber so i can convert to the Gold Leader, all saves money!

Re: TIE Killer Y wing, a conversion!

Yea,I buy lots of kit recently for future build, that cost me a lot:unsure
My idea is to cast parts that I need on my build and may be can help others on their build on this board on the future:thumbsup Learn molding and casting at the same time:)
