Hi

Im working on a head made of paper mache and I was wondering how do you glue fake hair on it ?

What kind of glue works best I can find any info.

Thank you
Billy

Boy I know how you feel mate! I went through this numerous times when trying to figure out how to attach hair to Capn Jack's mum prop!

I would first take the hair in strips and glue them in between pieces of bias tape. This way the hair is securely attached to a base when you start arranging them on your paper mache head. I just put a bead of hot glue gun glue onto the bias tape and pushed the hair into the glue and folded over the bias tape.

After you have about 4 to 5 of these hairpieces just start arranging them on the head before you glue them. Use the hot glue gun once again to attach them to the head. Allow 24 hours to dry and your done!

What type of head are you making? Are you using synthetic hair?

Thank you for the info sounds like you figured it out your head looks really great.Im going to buy synthetic hair im restoreing a antique puppet and he had crepe hair.I tried a wig but it just dident look right on him im going to order some fake hair.

Is the head you are working with soft enough that you could add hair the old fashioned way? One strand at a time? That was how they did it in the old days! Some place still do it today.

The other option is to use hair that is attached to a mesh net material such as the ones you see on faux beards / mustaches. Just an idea. Perhaps they have something like that for doll restoration. :confused

This head is very strong ive used hot glue on it and it seems to work.
I dont care about the value actully since ive restored it its probuly worth more.:lol

Thanks
Billy

i had to do this once while escaping and island prison..er nevermind
stretch a bit of straightened crepe hair and clasp in fist with it sticking out by your thumb as if you were holding a knife and aiming it with the thumb
than cut the hair strait across
now push or flick the thumb forward to "fan out the hair"
now place on glued head
to achieve a more natural fall of hair
dificult to explain but very easy to do or show
