Hello everyone, can someone point me in the right direction of obtaining the very best glass eyes. I want to use them on my head busts, and i seem to find all sorts of them but do not know which one to chose. Please help!

thank you

Rick

My best recommendation is this: use white ping pong balls for temporary eyes. cut out irises from blue masking tape in different sizes and use that to get the correct size for the bust you are fitting to. Once you have something that looks right, measure it and order your glass eyes from whatever company you wish. They always give you iris sizes to choose from as well as color and with and without veining etc... No two busts are the same sculpt so the iris diameter will defiinitely vary.

if you want high end stuff, I make custom eyes. there are cheaper options but you get what you pay for

you can buy used glass eyes on ebay or a taxidermist can make custom ones for you
if you're willing to pay a little more. Try van Dykes. I have them make custom predator eyes for me.

My personal favorites are Tech-optics (www.tech-optics. com) and the import eyes they sell through Tohickon Glass Eyes (Home) They are both mid priced eyes that have pretty good quality in the $40 pair range and more accuracy for more $$. The limbus of the eye is fair, but you don't get that in most non-custom eyes.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread... but I'm hoping you experts can pipe in. I'm looking for the right "eye" for a mask I'm working on. Objective: To look realistic from the outside, but still providing some visibility for the wearer.

I was originally thinking I'd use a clear piece of PETG, curve with heat gun or vacuum form, and then use a very light layer of paint to obscure the wearer. But if there's something better out there, I'm definitely open to suggestions!

It possible to put eye holes elsewhere on the mask? As in seeing through the nostrils so you can use better eyes without having to see through them?

The best eyes I have found are from here:

Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

(Eyecoltd.com/store)

I have never been disapointed, and they even offer "fantasy" eyes for the unique colors.
