Ghost in the Shell 2017 Skinny man shopndrop mini uzi

Hi, everybody!!

I'm thinking about making a replica of the Skinny man's shopndrop mini uzi from Ghost in the Shell 2017, but I have some doubts I need some help with. The first one is the purpose itself of the weapon. According to the designs of the weapon by William Bennett, I'd assumed it was a disposable one-use weapon. Is that right? The second question is the purpose of the yellow piece of plastic that can be seen in both the early design and in the movie prop, and which seems to jam the weapon's chamber. What about that?

I hope you can helo me with this!!

All the best, my friends!

It looks like the safety pin is connected to the yellow piece. So I assume that you pull the safety pin then pull the yellow piece to rack the first round.

Right! Hadn't made the connection between the safety pin and racking the first round. Thank you!!

I never thought of it as a burner or a throwaway gun but that makes perfect sense.

Looking at the image you see that the magazine is incorporated within the main body, so, presumably, it can't be replaced. In the movie they changed it, and there are weapons of this kind with removable magazines. I like the idea of a disposable machine gun that you can buy in a vending machine, and throw when its only magazine is spent better (perhaps that's why the name 'shopndrop'?) In the image you can even see how the body is made of recycled materials of different colors. I think that was Brennett's initial idea, but It was later changed in the movie.

Hey, Sundowner, I need your gifted mind to explain to me the purpose of that gap in the front grip of the gun, right side (ironically, the left image of the weapon in the picture attached to this thread). I know what can be seen in the gap is the yellowish part that is used to rack the weapon once you pull the safety pin, but, why that gap there? Can you help me with that?? Thank you, my friend.

I didn’t notice that initially, nice eye for detail. Hmm I’m wondering if it might reveal an indicator that it’s loaded/racked/ ready to go. Pure speculation though.

Makes sense! That's a perfectly plausible possibility ( is that redundant?). Thank you soooo much, Sundowner, I understand now why you are a Master member. Again, thank you

Hahaha oh please…I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Are you think about building this around an Airsoft replica?

By the way, Sundowner, and sorry for bothering you once again, remember we talked about the gun being disposable? The screenshot is from a scan of The Art of Ghost in The Shell. We were right, my friend!! (Sorry for the crappy quality)

I had considered that option, but what I didn't like about the movie prop was that it was built around a real life mini uzi. If I were to make it with a airsoft gun, I would study the possibility of building a different body for it with the airsoft mechanism inside, and then build the outer shell (no pun intended) around that.
