Going to Portland Comic Con this weekend for 3 days; on day one I am going as Bender with a pal as Fry. But, Fry needs an accessory, so what better than a Holophoner!
Bought a 14" plastic clarinet off Ebay for $7 that's actually a playable kazoo. Dollar Tree had plastic Recorders but they didn't have as many details and they didn't have buttons that moved when you pressed them down, but I'm sure they could work if needed.
The rest of the construction items for the body came from Dollar Tree tho. A round kids sippy bottle, a pink plastic champagne glass and another plastic glass that came with a Crazy Straw. I didn't end up using the clear plastic glasses shown, but for $1 they will used for something I'm sure.
Everything was Dremmeled and hot glued together and painted, and I even took apart an LED lighted Christmas ornament that was on clearance for $1.29 at Home Depot for animated lights (see video below). The gems for details were also hot glued. The whole project including painted took just part of 1 afternoon. Ta Da!
