Hello all! I'm new to the forum, discovered it several days ago, browsed through quite a few posts, and finally created an account. Seen some great stuff so far, and hope to make my own contribution!
I'm currently creating a Frank suit to wear for Halloween this year. I've found some useful threads and so far all is going great. Picked up a majority of the materials I needed (Minus the silicone for the mold as well as the fabric for the suit) and I started my sculpture several hours ago. I feel I got a surprising amount done in a day, then again I'm really new to this. How long do your usual mask sculpts take?
Anyways, I essentially finished the Frank mask aside from some texturing and a few pétit details, figured I'd start with this and add on as I make progress. Also, one quick question for you guys, how much silicone do you think I'll need to make my paint on mold? I know it's probably not easy for you to tell exactly based on my pics, but I am curious as the Smooth-on bottles come by 16oz and I'd rather order multiple bottles now if need be. Any opinons would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately my photos of just the initial clay coat as well as the addition of just the eyes were not very good, so this is the first one I have.
Addition of upper lip base and upper eyelid
Blending, smoothing, nose shaping, etc.
Side view
Addition of the first set of teeth
Buck teeth!
More teeth...
Full set of teeth! What a nasty grin...
(I saw the movie mask had a 6th tooth on the mask's right side, however when I added a 6th tooth to that side on mine it looked horribly unbalanced so I removed it.)
Lower jaw build-up
Coating the ears. By far the least fun part of the sculpting process.
One ear down!
Ears are finished!
Addition of the forehead shape
Essentially finished!
Now I just need to order the silicone and search for the right fur. I probably won't get back to the mask for a week but I'll try to update on the suit sometime this week! Again, please take a look at my above questions regarding the silicone, it's greatly appreciated! Any constructive comments or other critique (compliments as well) are appreciated too.
