Framing and Shadowboxing props

I have started teaching myself to frame and shadow box. I am looking for some feedback. These are all screen used pieces. The Rounders piece is still in the works. I have sold most of these and others are on the wall.

Looks pretty good. Layout and size proportion is very important. The display with the gloves looks off a bit as the gloves are too big for the cutout you made for them. Also, it's never a good idea to have the glass actually touching your props as over time there will be damage from humidity and dirt if the frame is not sealed as well as the prop possibly sticking to the glass. Additionally, you might want to look into UV resistant glass if any of the frames will be displayed where sunlight might hit them.

Are you using the DVD covers as part of your artwork, if so itÂ’s a great idea if not a little expensive if you do multiplesÂ…

Love to see some of the others youÂ’ve done they look great. I would suggest contrasting colors in the field where the props are, sometimes it works better than a single color.

The Propstore would be a great place to look for inspiration, as they have some of the best framed/boxed displays.

Propstore display...

Again, great work keep it up.

I framed my Batarangs.

I used a cheap frame from Wal-Mart. Removed the glass, and glued some brick hangers and magnets to the cardboard in a certain pattern. I first had to use some pliers and tear the toothed part of the hanger off, making it a bit flatter and leaving only the pair of hooks.

Then I stretched a layer of velveteen over the board and put it back in the frame. The Batarangs 'sit' on the jutting protrusions from the brick hangers and since all the Batarangs are solid steel, the magnets keep them from falling off. Looks great, and I can pull any one of these off in a second's notice and hurl it at unsuspecting evildoers :)

The little emblem on the bottom of the frame is a drawstring clip from a handheld Batman Begins FM radio.

edit: here's a brick hanger. I pried off the 2 'wing' things on top, as well as the teeth that are gripping into the mortar. I walked around the hardware store for 2 hours until I happened across these.

Wow. Terrific presentation. Very classy.

I really like the two Hellboy ones, but the Rounders one seems to have a lot of empty space towards the top.
