yeah another ironman mark 42 thread, but i just want to share this one because i'm really like the way it turns out :)

my buddy ironshawarma asked me to build him a mark 42 using helagak's mark 42 files, but then i decided to make it hybrid just like my suit, using both jackieisrockin's and helagak's files

here's what i used for the parts:
torso(chest and back) - helagak's file
abs - jackieisrockin's file
cod - helagak's file
legs - jackieisrockin's file
arms (shoulders, biceps, forearms) - helagak
helmet - gimpee's file
hand/palm repulsor - zabana's hand file
fingers - robo's mk6 fingers

i don't have much pictures of the WIP but i had these instead

i started building helagak's chest and back files. . .scale to fit a 5'7" guy

IMG0 056.jpg

next is the ab piece, using jackieisrockin's ab file. .scale to fit 5'7" guy and is exactly the same with helagak's ab file
the reason why i didn't use helagak's ab file, my pc crashes whenever i try to reduce the pages on the whole suit pdo file. .lol

days later. . .after finishing my gurren lagann costume, i started to seal each parts of the suit, no pictures of the other parts being built because i was toooo lazy that time to take pictures and i'm so freakin' tired :cry i'm using acrylic emulsion here to seal the foam, i use 4-5 layers of acrylic emulsion to give the foam a nice shiny coating for me to paint

IMG0 063.jpgIMG0 065.jpg

pain-ting, yeah that's my term because i really hatteeeee masking, that's the pain. . .and here's a quick comparison of my mark 42 and ironshawarma's mark 42. . .

IMG0 071.jpg

fingers, made of paper mache-d robo's mark 4-6 finger pep file

IMG0 009.jpg

yeah jackieisrockin's boots, the extension flaps on the top will be inserted inside the shin to preserve it's proportion

IMG0 039.jpg

IMG0 037.jpg

at last! i finally painted the suit! the "smaller" mark 42 is mine

IMG0 070.jpg

i added some details on gimpee's helmet foam unfold. .and i used a 9v powered blue led strips on the eyes. . .

:thumbsup the suit is shipped yesterday and hopefully it will arrive there before halloween (and it did arrived before halloween yey!)

thanks for viewing and if you have questions just ask :) i don't bite much :lol

Re: Commissioned Iron-Man Mark 42 Suit PIC HEAVY (sort of)

Nice looking suits m8! Great paint job!

QUESTIONZ!!!!!

-What is your general progress for painting foam?
-Are your boots, boots to get in with bare foot, or do they fit a shoe? Also i have huge feet (a 12 UK/US 47EU) and I'm scared the tip will fold to much when walking, should I make it seperated from the rest? Or don't you got to many problems with that?

Keep up the building!

~hmmm 4-5 layers of acrylic emulsion. . .then spray with grey primer. . .then silver base coat. . .then color of my choice. . .i don't use any method on sealing the seams since i can minimize those seams when gluing the pieces together. . .

~usually i built my boots with soles, something like this:

as for the "tip-toe problem". . .i would suggest making it separated since you are scared on any fold damage on the boots. .for me the boot articulation is critical on the mark 42 boots unlike the mark 3 to mark 7 boots which have a "screw section" which you could just use chicago screws to make the boot articulation. .hope it helps. . .i'm no genius on those articulations though but this is just my idea :angel hopefully i could make those boot articulation in the future too. . .good luck on your build ;)

damn your fast lol

lol i only sleep 3 to 4 hours a day just to get that suit done. . and since it's done. . .i can hug my bed all day long :love gonna get myself a rest . . .anyway how's your build?

Re: Commissioned Iron-Man Mark 42 Suit PIC HEAVY (sort of)

Thx for the fast reply man :). Also for the awnsers.

For the boots, I was thinking of making the toe (pure red) loose of the rest. So when you just stand it looks exactly like yours. But when i walk the toe slides under the golden part. (if that makes any sense to you).

Thx for the help !!
