as of yet no pics, but i'm working on that for future placement herein.

well anyways i was goffing around the house the other night, had a case of insomnia, so i went to my model table and sketched out a basic shape of a plasma cannon, then i got to looking through my foam core scrap, and found four large usuable peices for the body of the cannon, then i fiddled around and shapped it up, i used the templates maverick118 has posted here. that part was easy enough, so far overall thickness is just over an inch and three quarters , length is around 13 inches, and height close to three maybe four inches, now the hard part, how was i to make the cannon swivel, bam it hit me, my old radio control gear from my racing days, found my old futaba magnum jr radio, and one of my cheap servos that has a glitch, well i found an appropriate servo horn, attached that to the servo itself, then with small screws i screwed the servo to the build up, plugged the servo into the receiver, and plugged the battery to the esc(eletronic speed control) flip the radio on first then the receiver, fiddled with the steering wheel on my radio and viola it actually worked for me, after i had things working the servo began to glitch, looked like a battle damaged cannon base, but the swivel was dead on .

as of yet no pics, but i am working on that for future placement herein.

i used a roll od painter's masking tape for the larger circle for the sketch couldm't find my compass, from there i guesstimated the size of the cannon, what i came up with are measurements listed above, which works for me since i'm a pretty good sized man, luckily it balanced out.
i also used a ruler, and a cap off a highlighter pen for smaller circles, connected the staright lines with the circles and viola once again the basic shape. but as i mentioned this is just a foam core build up for a visual reffrence , may try to build the cannon from balsa wood, or omd board, again i was flabberghasted at the out come of this small scrap build up, when i get it finished i will post a complete huntorial .

all in all the total cost for build up was like $60.00 to $70.00 ( tadio and servo cost with tax) couple dollars worth of foam core board i got from my local dollar tree where everything in the store is a dollar, sorry for the impropto adverisment.

i got my radio and servo from big daddy's hobbies in danville ,kentucky u.s.a.
anyways when i get it finished, i'll post some pix and a complete tutorial for you yautja out there in pred space

so far this is what i have of my plasma caster. so far it's just 4 peices of foam core board thick, with a couple peices of thin cardboard, the servo mounts on the bottom of the cannon, and with a decent fm rc radio i can motivate the cannon right or left, the othe rrc equipment, well i'm using it in my late model rc car. (the receiver of the transmitter in the picture)

cool!! start .

i use cardboard and foam alot and find that if you use pva on cardboard it gets toughter but adds little weight, gives a good metal finish when painted.
as if left on a flat surface it leaves no brush lines , but i guess you already new that.
great idears you have look forwards to more updates as i need to add movement to my cannon. ;)
