Flight of the Navigator?

Hey everyone. Just watched Flight of the Navigator last night (great 80's flick), and was thinking how cool it would be to make the robot "head" prop from the movie...

Has anyone attempted this prop before?

I've never seen anyone do that, and it would be very cool!

I remember visiting Disney/MGM Studios in Florida several years ago and seeing one of the Navigator spaceships, along with two spinners from Blade Runner and the Land Master from Damnation Alley, all sitting there in a back lot, open to the elements, with paint peeling and metal rusting. For someone like me, it was heartbreaking.

I worked with the guy who played the older version of the little brother on a film called "Diving In" years ago. I should have picked his brain more about the movie at the time.
