Well it's Halloween time again, and this year i thought i would veer away from applying latex to my face, as i have the past few years (Freddy Krueger, and Zombies) Thought I would try to come up with something different that i haven't seen around my neck of the woods. I have always been a Ninja Turtle Fan and I have always wanted to make a shredder costume.

Now the decision was which shredder would I attempt to make? Cartoon shredder from the 80's has always been Rad, But the the shredder from the movie version is pretty Sick.

I know I wont be able to recreate it Exactly, but i will try my best to get it as close as possible in time for Halloween. After Halloween passes I will work on it more to get it closer to the Film quality.

I started off with the face mask, once i finished that I went on to finish the rest. This is my first time messing around with pepaureka.

First coat of resin applied. towards the end of applying the resisn it started to cure faster then i thought and was globbing up. must have added to much hardener. after a few time i got the hand of it.

Applied a spray adhesive to the insides of all the pieces, and then added fiberglass cloth to the insides

"The 'Shredder'?" "Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?" LOL

Hey, good work so far man! I'll keep an eye on this one ;)

Awesome job! I never would have guessed you hadn't used peparuka before!

Any idea how you plan on doing the claws on his hands? I'm having a bit of difficulty figuring how I'm gonna do that. ANy tips would be much appreciated!

Thanks and good luck!

For the claws I found a pep file on here, its an armored version of shredder the claws are pretty simple to put together.

If you guys have access to metal working tools you could just make iron ones grind them down so they aren't sharp, don't want the foot clan shut down before their leader has arisen lol.

But pep should work, there's always the problem of getting them solid, which you can harden on the outside with resin, then fill with more resin on the outside or with rondo (mixture of resin and bondo- check the 405th (CerielKill3r in particular)). Good luck!

Here is a picture of the Face mask painted and with the black grid inserted ( it's still kinda rough, but I'm in a rush). In the back ground is the arm armor and to the side is the hand claw, resined and filled , still needs more sanding before primed and painted.

Here is the arm, leg, and shoulder armor I have been working on, I hand drew and cut out the shape in cardboard, hot glued the blades on that were made of a really thick matting board not sure exactly what it was it was just laying around my house. then i put resin over it then added material for the mesh, applied another coat of resin, primed, then added black to fill in groves of the mesh and brushed on silver paint. shoulders still in progress

Here's a bolt of fabric that I got at Joanne's Fabrics on clearance. I think this will do the Job for the jumpsuit part of the costume.

Finished our costumes just in time for a costume contest last night, which we came in 1st! Shredder and the Foot were on the loose! A friend took these pictures on our way out to the bar. Will try and post some better pictures later on.
