Firefly Coin Details

Boba Debt

Master Member
I'm in contact with a seller that has a lot of the coins from Firefly

He is going to sell me 6 coins for about $28 shipped from Hong Kong, which is one of the best "price per coin" rates I have found so far

However before I commit to I want to make sure they are as accurate as possible

If you have an eye for accuracy please look at my pictures to see if I missed any small details.

Here is the best image I could get from Phil's pictures of the first coin which I will call it 1861-1908:

This is what I can get:

Here is the best image I could get from Phil's pictures of the second coin which I will call it Yun Nan Province:

Thanks

For the first coin (1861-1908), the only thing that really stands out is the border thickness. Otherwise it's golden.

The second one (province) appears to have the correct markings, however obscured they are.

Nice find

Nice catch

I have noticed that a lot of the screen used coins have that thick rim, but very few of the coins offered on eBay have it.

It's really odd.

I think the thick rim might be a result of being counterfeit coins or something. That 1861-1908 is the same coin I have and it's obviously the source for the one from Firefly but there are small detail differences in it...probably due to counterfeiting them...or so I am assuming

Part of the problem with nailing down the fine details is that it appears from Phil's photos of the original coins that some of them seem to be "chromed". This makes them shiny (literally, as well as 'Versely :lol) and hard to photograph; the "chrome" layer is also thick and smooths over some of the small details.

Several of the coins I had were like this--in real life they actually look very fake...go figure :rolleyes :lol
