Thanks! it is my first!......when it is finished I will try again at some point now that I know there a few thing I would do different

:lol the easy stuff is no fun! I give credit where credit is due......I have a whole new outlook on people that make these .....folks complain about the price of a good tunic or dress.......don't!!! they are apain in the rear!!:lol:lol

Re: TOS Trek Dress

That looks great! MUCH close than any commercially dress available out there.

Re: TOS Trek Dress

Hey!!! Star Trek didn't issue out black jeans with that uniform. That does not conform to the Starfleet Uniform Code, Starfleet Order 45.623(125a)-90, Subsection 34-98(b) All Starfleet women will wear matching color bloomers with Starfleet issued uniform.

Other than that great skills in making said uniform!

Re: TOS Trek Dress

I wish I could talk my wife into wearing a TOS mini-skirt (I get no cooperation whatsoever toward my geek like endeavors) :lol. I think she is hoping that I will hit my head one day and forget I like props and sci-fi.
That looks GREAT!!!
Is there anything TOS you can not pull off? I think I have seen

  • Phaser
  • Communicator
  • Tricorder
  • Scotty trident tool thing
  • Assorted alien weapons
  • Captains Chair
  • Transporter Console (no?)
  • Spocks station
  • Now tunics
I am sure I am missing a bunch of things.

His nick-name is, "Paul", because he can do it "all"! :D

Re: TOS Trek Dress

Cool stuff! I've been watching Star Trek TOS on iTunes over the past few weeks and have fallen in love (again) with the old uniforms. That looks fantastic for your first attempt at sewing, especially considering the odd shape of the pieces.

Might I ask where you got the rank stripping? Is it a specialty item or something I can just order online?

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.....it is a learnin experiance for sure!!! thanks Will......I didn't realize I do so much!!:lol I am sure my wife wishes the same for me...........some of these replicas take up some serious space!!! :love
The rank braid you can get on ebay....a couple of makers out there but Captain Americas Is the most accurate hands down.....hope that helps you!

Re: TOS Trek Dress

Reason I ask, was because of the seams. It has the same seams that meet at the badge like Nurse Chapel's dress. If I am not mistake the regular officer felmale dresses had the seams run from the shoulders down - like the men's shirt seams.

It looks pretty close to me. For comparison, here's a pic of Uhura's costume from the touring Star Trek exhibit from a couple of years back.
