Hey everyone!
First time, long time.
Anyways I was hired to create a replica of the mask used in MTV's SCREAM tv series. Here is my process!
Started the sculpture. I used WED clay because I knew it would take a couple weeks of effort at night after I get home from work. WED clay being a mix of oil based and water based clay means it wont dry out nearly as quick as a sculpt done in water based clay.
Here is a shot of the finished sculpt.
This is the mold after I pulled out the clay sculpt. Silicone brush on mold with fiberglass jacket.
Here are three casts, one is sanded and cleaned up to become the final mask, the other casts are for practicing the paint job.
Here is a shot of the straps and buckles with actual rust and paint to show aging/weathering.
Staring to paint using layer and layer and layers of grays!
Finished paint after dry brushing. This is before the gloss coats are added.
Straps attached and glued into place, added mesh to the facial openings.
Here he is, all glossed up and strapped!
Last shot. Finished mask next to the mold!
Thanks for checking out my work! If anyone has any questions let me know! This is an awesome community and I am very happy to finally get involved.
Thanks
